Version History
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 0.1 - October 14, 2006.
This is the first draft of the guide, with only stuff I've gathered on
my own up to now listed. The damned thing hasn't even been fully
formatted yet! I've already sunken a few hours into this thing... I'd
like to finish Tarazed up sometime soon, and that's not going to happen
as long as I'm typing this!
Version 0.2 - October 20, 2006.
I decided I'll just go ahead and submit it now. I've also added a few
more magnus and descriptions and made a few minor changes. Hopefully
putting it up early will get more contributors than posting it on the
message board.
Version 0.3 - October 21, 2006.
Some more additions! Yay!
Version 0.4 - October 27, 2006.
Whoa, I actually got emails with tips for some more locations! Thanks! :D
Version 0.5 - November 3, 2006.
I added an effect to Portrait of Verus courtesy of Sister that I would
never have bothered to notice, along with descriptions for several magnus
and a few other random things. I think it's enough to warrant an update.
Version 1.0 - November 4, 2006.
Thanks to MightyGroudon, all the remaining descriptions have been added.
Heartflask information and exact effects aside, I think the guide's
completed enough to be upped to 1.0 now. Now the true mission is getting
some of the people on the boards to realize there's a "FAQs and Guides"
tab so they don't keep asking questions about this stuff... :/
version 1.1 - November 11, 2006.
Just a few small things from MightyGroudon and im317 went in, but an
update is an update, and I want to keep this thing... updated.

What is this crap and how do I use it?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a Quest Magnus FAQ.
That means it contains information on the game's plethora of Quest
Magnus: what they are, what they do, and where to find them.
This guide aims to be as complete as possible.
Completion means there will be minor spoilers, as story-related Quest
Magnus will also be included. By reading the rest of this FAQ you agree
to let everyone point and laugh at you if you are offended by any
spoilers that happen to be present.
Being at the end of the game helps.
The vast majority of this guide is written with the assumption that
you're at the end of the game (i.e., at the elevator to the final boss
battle). If your progress is lesser, then some magnus may be in different
locations or outright unavailable.
Ctrl+F is your best friend.
That's all there is to it, really. Just punch the keys for god's sake!
Also, spelling the magnus name correctly will help immensely. The find
function frowns upon those who can't spell. If you don't manage to find
the magnus you're looking for, then I haven't gotten that information
yet. Bear with me, I'll eventually have it all! I think.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you begin...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concerning magnus effects.
Some effects for magnus are more specific than others. That's because I've
actually figured those ones out. For the ones I haven't really researched,
the effect will be the same as what is listed in the card's description.
If I have a specific effect but am not 100%ish sure it's right, it has a
(?) by it. Feel free to confirm/deny any of these to me.
Concerning magnus names.
There are some magnus that I know exist but I don't have names for. I've
listed them under alernate names that I either made up or am guessing are
correct for the time being. Most or all of these have (?) by them. If you
know what any of them are, by all means, tell me!
Concerning magnus locations.
(?). You get the idea.
Concerning magnus descriptions.
There had better not be any typos. If there are, I'll cry. Then I'll fix
them, of course.

Contribution
There are two ways to contribute to this FAQ. The first is to post on
the GAMEFAQs message board (be sure to post at the Baten Kaitos Origins
board). I don't check the board that often - I check almost daily, and
that rate will dwindle as this guide nears completion and as my ability
to devote time to this game wanes. The other way, which will become more
reliable as time passes, is email! By sending information to soapy at
thedailypos dot org, you can help guardian spirits around the world
(i.e., people) guide their little buddies (i.e., Sagi) to Quest Magnus
nirvana!
Oh, if you do email me, be sure you put "Baten Kaitos Origins" in the
subject line or I might not read it. You can even use all caps if you
want to!
One more thing. It helps if you tell me how you what you want me to call
you in the Credits section. Otherwise, I might have to settle for "That
Guy" or something equally vague. I'd rather not do that because there are
enough people by that name already, and we don't need any more needless
confusion!
Credits
The following fine people have helped me in some way and deserve a
medal/trophy/blue ribbon/pat on the back.
broodwars: informed me of Heartflask's existence, and I got a few other
things by reading his posts around the board.
Celsius: I learned about Plain Ole Shaved Ice and Pac-Mania from his
posts.
funky bob: For finding out that the testimonies can't be eaten.
im317: For more detailed information on Tub-Time Greythorne.
Master Espeon: Stone locations at Hassaleh Port and Nihal Desert, and the
aging of the secrets to get Yesterday's News.
MightyGroudon: For a crapload of locations during the storyline and for
like ten craploads of descriptions that I was missing.
rpglady76: For the Basic Medical Primer's location.
Sister: For Portrait of Verus's effects.

Hey, can I use this stuff in my guide?
Eh, if this thing reaches completion, there will be no need for that. And
I do plan on eventually completing this guide. If you have a good reason
for using the stuff, though, contact me and I'll see what I can work out.
