CONTACT ME: Do not contact me. I'm no longer updating this FAQ, and haven't
played Magical Melody for a long time. (Almost a year!)
Heck, I forgot a lot information about Magical Melody, so this FAQ is
actually more useful than my own memory!

In other words - don't bother e-mailling me, asking for some help. Try the
forums, or read other related FAQs.

==============================================================================
001. STARTING OUT
==============================================================================
In this section, I'll explain the things that you may want to know before you
play the game. I explain those that will make your game a bit easier.

When you first play the game, you'll be asked for your name, names of dog,
and farm. Then you'll be asked to choose the land out of three different
lands. All lands are different, so I'll list them (as well my recommandations
and opinions)

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~    CHOOSING THE LAND      ~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--CENTRAL TOWN FARM
This land is very small. Personally, I do not recommand this land, due to
size. The field quality is good, so you can plant a lot good crops, but then
again, the size is too small. It's far from the blacksmith, and workshop.
It's close to other stores in east, and to the mountain.

--OCEAN VIEW FARM
This land is very big. You can fit in the large barn, and other buildings.
There're plenty space. You can plant a lot crops here as well, but the quality
of field is very poor. You won't get a lot profits if you plant the crops.
Plus, you have quite a long walk to the mountain, and stores in west.

--RIVER SIDE FARM
The land is medium-sized. You can fit in the chicken coop, and small barn.
Or you can upgrade your house (when you relocate the watering hole, then you
will have enough space for upgraded houses). You also can plant the crops here
The field quality is between good and great.
Personally, I like this best. It's not far from stores in west or east. It
is not far from the mountain, neither. Because River Side Farm is at about
middle of the map.

You can choose whatever you like best. If you choose the land, and after
playing it... You find that the land you have chosen, is not working well for
you. You can buy the land from Woody in the Workshop, and relocate your house
to that land. It'll cost some money, but at least, it means that you don't
have to put up with the land you dislike.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~         STAMINA           ~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for any of you that have played older Harvest Moon games, you will notice
that the stamina is quite different. Unlike older games, the stamina here is
very little so you will keep running out of stamina fairly quickly in the
beginning.

After you play for a while in Harvest Moon game, you will notice that your
stamina runs out quickly each time you use the tool, or do the activities
that drains your stamina.

Many people are frustuated with stamina, but there are ways to get by with
the limited stamina. It is:

-> Eat the foods that restores your stamina bar
-> Collect Power Berries to expand your stamina bar
-> Visit Harvest Goddess after you collects 50 notes, she'll restore your
   stamina each time you visit her.
-> Sleeping (longer hours you sleep, more stamina will be restored)

POWER BERRIES
The power berries are very useful so I suggest that you should start to
collect them. There are five power berries in total. If you eat all of the
five power berries, your stamina bar will be doubled.

1. Collect 30 Musical Notes, and visit Harvest Goddess Spring.
2. Reach 100 level bottom of Moonlight Mine (only after Tim moves in)
3. Win the Beach Festival, the swimming contest.
4. Attend the Pumpkin Festival (you have to donate a pumpkin)
5. Win the horse race (your horse have to be at 6-7 hearts)

GOOD FOOD
If you mix Toadstool and Butter with the frying pan, you will get
"Toadstool Saute" which will restore your stamina AND fatigue bar 100%. So
the toadstool saute is very best food there are.

But if you can't find any toadstools or can't afford the butters, you can
still get by. Just collect the berries - Very Berries and Blueberries. They
are good and cheap. The herbs won't restore your stamina bar as good as the
berries, but they are good at restoring your fatigue though.

You can also cook your fishes with bonfire, or knife set and eat your fishes.
Or you can save the cooked fishes and put them in the fridge for later use.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~         FATIGUE           ~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is an invisible bar called the fatigue. You will gain fatigue as you
pass the time, and do activities as well. Once your fatigue is high enough,
it'll drain your stamina more when you work.

Once when my fatigue is so high, it drains 20% of my stamina each time I pick
up a item. As you can see, it'd wise to keep your fatigue low so it won't
affect your stamina bar much.

But I think you won't have to worry about the fatigue much if you like to
sleep for a bit long time.

RESTORE
-> Sleeping (longer hours you sleep, more fatigue you will lose)
-> Toadstool Saute
-> Herbal Items
-> Pontata Root

Mix the toadstool and butter with the frying pan. You will have "Toadstool
Saute" which will restore your stamina and fatigue 100%. It's best food.

You can also use the herbal items to restore your fatigue. Just eating
the herbs will get rid of your fatigue a bit.

The pontata roots works just as well.

You can use Green Herb in the pot, and you will get Herb Tea. It're more
effective than just eating the herbs.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~         RUCKSACK          ~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you first start out, you will only have the five slots in your rucksack.
So it means you can stuff the five items in your bag, and hold one item in
your hands. So I recommand that you should to upgrade your rucksack when you
can afford to. Just head to the Junk Shop, and there will be a sale on the
medium rucksack. Just buy it, and you will have ten slots in your bag.

In order to get the biggest rucksack with fifteen slots, you will have to
befriend Martha. Look in "BEFRIENDING" section under here.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~       BEFRIENDING         ~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are many people in the town, and you can make friends with them by
talking to them, and giving the gifts to them. But I'll only list the people
that's important for you befriend because you will get good benefits.

                                   ~+~

MARTHA
The old lady in the Clinic. She will move in later when you talk to Alex
a few times. Give her the items she likes (which you can find out in the
villagers section) to increase her hearts up to between two and three hearts.

Once you did that, enter the Clinic and it'll trigger the scene between you
two. She will notice that your rucksack is dirty, and asks that you bring her
a yarn so she'll make better rucksack for you.
(It has to be a scene. If she starts to say something about the yarn when
 you talk to her, it doesn't mean that is the scene. The scene is when Martha
 walks to you and tell you about your rucksack.)

So head out of the Clinic, and get the yarn.
There are two different ways to get the yarns, and they are:
--> Get the sheep. You will have to build a barn, buy yarn maker, and clippers
And wait until your sheep mature into adult age, and shear its wool, then
use Yarn Maker to turn your wool into the yarn.

--> Hearty Shop. You will have to meet the requirements for Lyla to move in
and open her shop. She'll be selling the coloured yarns for more than 1,000g.
To get her, you need to ship the flowers, berries, fruits and good clays,
many as you can. You must attend Flower Festival so she can come to the town.

Once you have a yarn, head back to the Clinic. There will be yet another
scene, Martha will take a yarn from you, and give you a biggest rucksack.

                                   ~+~

SAIBARA
The old man in Atelier house. To get him to move in, just ship one good clay,
found in the Moonlight Mine floors (you have to use a hoe to find it) After
he moved in, just ship 10 good clays, and befriend him.

When he has two hearts, he'll give you a task to do. When you complete a
task, come back to him, and he'll give you the Aging Pot. It is the cooking
tool. But keep befriend Saibara...

When he has five hearts, he'll give you the Mixing Pot. Yet another cooking
tool.

                                   ~+~
THEODORE THE MAYOR
You can give him the potatos, or other items he loves. Once he gains one
heart, heads to Woody's Workshop. You will see more lands available for
purchase.

Once he has two hearts, even more lands will be available for purchase.
When he has three hearts, all lands will be available for purchase.

                                   ~+~
WOODY or KURT or JOE
Just befriend one of the three craftsmen, give him the gifts until he gains
one heart. Go to Woody, and he'll have the house upgrade available for you.

                                   ~+~
BLACKSMITH and POWER BERRY
The blacksmith store will not be there from start, so you will need to meet
the requirements so Tai and Tim will move in. Just ship the ores you find from
the Moonlight Mine. (Look in the MOVE INs section for more information)

Once Tai and Tim moves in, you can now upgrade your tools at the blacksmith.
You also can head to 100th floor in Moonlight Mine to meet Tim who will give
you a power berry if you do that.

==============================================================================
002. TOOLS
==============================================================================
There are several different tools in this game. I'll explain them and their
uses. I will also list the books information, about the tools.

                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                    ~       Upgrade-able Tools        ~
                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are six tools that has the upgrade meter. More you use the particular
tool, it will gains more experience points. When it reaches a certain bar, you
can upgrade it in the Blacksmith, or buy from Junk Shop to replace your old
one.

The iron tool is weak, and by using it, will drain your stamina a lot. So
when you upgrade a tool, it'll take less swings, chops or anything to get
your work done. So less use, and less stamina taken from you. So it's much
better to upgrade your tools.

The level goes like this:
Iron -> Copper -> Silver -> Gold -> Goddess

In order to upgrade to the Copper level, you can buy them from Junk Shop for
2,000. Or you can upgrade it in the Blacksmith, but you'll need the copper
ore, and some money.

In order to upgrade to the Silver level, you can buy them from Junk Shop for
a lot of money. Or you can upgrade it in the Blacksmith, but you'll need the
silver ore, and some money.

As for Gold level, you can buy it from Junk Shop, or upgrade it with gold ore.
As for Goddess level, you can upgrade it with a rare ore.

HOW TO USE THE UPGRADED TOOLS:
There are some tools which will launch powerful and useful strike if you hold
down X button for a while, then release X button. The most useful tool that
you will want to hold down X button is the Watering Can.

1. Copper Level Hold down a X button until...
Red Vein and White Smoke pop up from your character. Let go of X button.

2. Silver Level Hold down a X button until...
Red and White Smoke pop up from your character, but keep holding X button.
Until your face starts to glow red. Then let go of X button.

3. Gold Level Hold down a X button until...
Red Vein/White Smoke pop up, and then after this, glowing red face. But keep
holding X button until the white glowing rings appear around your character.

                                    ~+~

Watering Can - To use this, just walk to the watering hole, or a wooden dock
in the river, and press A button to fill your can with water. Then proceed
to the planted crops, and you can press X button to water your crops.
It'll only cover one square, but when you upgrade it... It'll be able to
water more than one square. At the goddess level, you'll be able to water A
LOT squares around you.

--BOOK ABOUT WATERING CAN--
"A watering tool. Fill it with well water.

 They are sold at the Junk Shop.
 Upgrade it at the Blacksmith.
 Copper W.C.: 1 Copper Ore + A fee
 Silver W.C.: 1 Silver Ore + A fee
 Gold W.C.: 1 Gold Ore + A fee
 Takes a few days to upgrade."

Axe - It can cut down the branch, stump or tree. You'll swing once to cut
the branch, but it'll take more swings to cut the stump. However, the tree
will get a lot more swings. In fact, in start of the game, cutting down the
tree will drain nearly all of your stamina. Upgrade your axe, it'll take less
swings to break the stumps and trees. The goddess axe will swing only once to
cut the stump, and only three to cut the tree.

--BOOK ABOUT AXE--
"Chops branches and stumps.
 You can use it to cut down trees, too.
 Experience points required to upgrade.
 They are sold at the Junk Shop.
 Upgrade it at the Blacksmith.
 Copper Axe: 1 Copper Ore + A fee
 Silver Axe: 1 Silver Ore + A fee
 Gold Axe: 1 Gold Ore + A fee
 Takes a few days to upgrade."

Hammer - It can break the stones, boulders and hard boulders. It can also
break the crystals and cavern rocks in the mine's depth. The hammer is same
as the axe. It requires more swings to break boulders, and A LOT swings to
break the hard boulders. So at the goddess level, it'll be godly.

--BOOK ABOUT HAMMER--
"Crushes stones. Use it to clear
 land and demolish fences.
 Experience points required to upgrade.

 Gold Hmr: 1 Gold Ore + A fee

Sickle - It can cut down the grass, weeds and crops. (But don't cut your
crops! It'll be a waste.) At Iron level, it can only cut one square. But when
you upgrade it, it'll be able to cut more than one square. In order to get
more squares cut, just hold down X button, and let go after a while.

--BOOK ABOUT SICKLE--

Fishing Rod - Just stand next to the river, or anything with water. Press X
button to throw your hook into the water. You can fish with this, obviously.
You can upgrade this as well, but personally, there aren't much difference
with the upgraded fishing rods. Actually, I have yet to see any notable
differences, only in the fish's weight but it means nothing.

--BOOK ABOUT FISHING ROD--

Hoe - You can till the soil with this tool. You'll need to till the soil so
you can plant the seeds in the tilled soil. The Iron hoe will till only one
square, so when you upgrade it... It'll be able to till more squares, long as
you hold down X button and let go after a while.

--BOOK ABOUT HOES--

The tools listed here do not have the experience bar so you can't upgrade
them.

 This might take a while to get used to,
 but you just need some practice."

==============================================================================
003. CROPS
==============================================================================
Unlike in the older games of Harvest Moon, the crops are actually very good.
They will give you a lot profits than the animals. So you can make a lot
money from your crops - Assuming if you plant/take care of the plants right.
TREES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SECTION!

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~      SOIL QUALITY      ~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you till the ground with your hoe, the ground will reveal its quality.
To determine which one is good quality, just check for the color.

LIGHT BROWN - Very light brown soil, looks dry. Sort like the desert.
              This soil is "Poor Quality", or PQ for short.

MEDIUM BROWN - Little dark brown, very different from the poor soil.
               This soil is "Medium Quality", or MQ for short.

DARK BROWN - Dark brown, little different from MQ. It's definitely more dark.
             This soil is "High Quality", or HQ for short.
            **Note: I think you better to dig a bit to find some MQ and HQ
              first before proceeding to plant your crops. Because I made a
              mistake, and mistook MQ soil for HQ soil, since it's so dark
              in comparsion to the light soil.

Difference in the soil's quality are the profits. The crops planted in the
high quality soil, will boost the crop's value when you sell them. So you'd
better off planting some crops in medium or high quality soils.

However, there is one way to improve your soil. And it is by using the
fertilizers. But in order to unlock the fertilizers, you will need to ship the
limestones, found from Moonlight Moon, and Lake Mine. Ten limestones, to be
exact. Once you did that, Spring Farm will start to sell the fertilizers.

--BOOK ABOUT FERTILIZERS--
"You can use fertilizer to enrich
 soil poor in nutrients.
 When you have rich soil, you can
 harvest better vegetables that
 earn a higher shipping value.
 Really good fertilizer
 can be made from limestone, so
 it's a good idea to find limestone
 in the cave and ship it."

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~      HOW TO PLANT?     ~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You'll need some seeds, so buy them from Spring Farm. Head to the land you
want to plant your crops. Equip your hoe, and hold down "R". It'll show the
blue border, so you can see where you'll strike if you use your hoe. So now
you can make the formation with a hoe. Use this formation -

     XXX
     XXX
     X X

"X" is place where you can till with your hoe. On third row, there're empty
middle slot. It's made that way so you can water the crop in middle with your
iron watering can. Until you upgrade your watering can, you can't reach the
middle crop if you use this -

There are some crops that'll grow back when harvested. It's called the regrow
crops. If you use above formation, you are unable to harvest the middle slot.
So it's good idea to open a empty slot so you can reach the middle.

For more information on the formations, there're the great guide about it
in the gamefaqs. Be sure to check it out.

After making your own formation - Just stand in middle of your formation,
and use your seeds. The seeds will spread to the formation surrounding you,
and one you're standing on.

Now you're done tilling, and planting the seeds. So just pick up the watering
can, and fill it with water from the watering hole. Water your crops. Be sure
to water your crops everyday (except days when it's raining) until the veggies
are ready to be harvested.

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head to Spring Farm, and you will see the seeds on sale. You can buy some of
them, and plant them. Note that, during Winter, you are unable to grow your
crops since the fields are covered with snow. So there aren't any Winter
crops.
Day Grow - The amount of days it takes for the crop to mature.
Regrow - Amounts of the days for harvested crops to grow its vegetables back.
         All crops with "regrow" will grow multiple vegetables during season.
since the grass do not require watering at all. So use 3x3 formation -
Just till the 3x3 formation, and stand in middle, and then plant your seeds.
You don't need to water them, so just leave them be. They'll grow on their
own. And they'll keep growing, so you can use your sickle to harvest for some
fodders. The grass will stay there until the winter.
004. TREES
==============================================================================
The trees are different from the ground crops. It will stay there for all
seasons, and produce the fruits during the certain season. Unfortunately, the
trees aren't big money makers since the fruits are usually in low numbers. So
you won't be able to harvest a lot fruits from the trees.
To plant the tree, you need to look for the 3x3 space so the tree can grow.
If the tree is planted on the space that's lower than 3x3, it'll die. Just
use this formation
     ooo
     oTo
     ooo
"T" is the tree, and o is empty space around it. Use the hoe on "T", and plant
your tree seedling right there. Just stand before "T", and press the seeds.
The tree seeds don't work like the crops. It does not spread out, so you will
have to stand before the slot where the tree are supposed to be planted.
Now you're all done. Nope, you don't need to water your seedling. It'll manage
just fine. Now you can do your other tasks, and check on the seedling
occasionally, to make sure the weeds don't appear next to the tree seedling.
If there're some weeds around the tree, just get rid of those weeds. The tree
seedling will die if there're weeds next to them. Once the tree mature, you
don't have to worry about the weeds anymore.
--------------------------------------------------
| TREE NAME      | BUY  |  DAYS  | SELL | FRUITS |
| Apple Tree     | 380G | 7 Days | 300G | Autumn |
| Grape Tree     | 370G | 7 Days | 220G | Autumn |
| Chestnut Tree  | 350G | 20 Days|  50G | Autumn |
| Mora Tree(2)   | 300G | 20 Days|      |        |
| Evergreen Tree | 200G | 20 Days|      |        |
--------------------------------------------------
(2) You can use your hoe under the Mora Trees to find the truffles.
The truffles are worth 1,000g each. You can also use your pig to sniff it out.
WHAT ARE THOSE TREES LOOK LIKE?
Some people asked me often about the trees' descriptions, especially the Mora
Trees. So, that's why I added the section about the trees' appearance here.
In here, you can find where are those trees, and what they look like so you
know what are their type.
  Firstly, there are two notable differences between two types of the trees:
         Small Trees > Orange Tree, Apple Tree, and Grape Tree
         Large Trees > Chestnut Tree, Mora Tree, Evergreen Tree
  "Small Trees" - Also known as "Fruit Trees"
These are the Orange Trees already planted, it's southeast of the map. You
will know when you see the orange tree, because they're very much different
than the large trees that you see anywhere.
The Grape Tree and Apple Trees are simliar to the Orange Tree. I hate to admit
but I always have trouble when it comes to identifying which one is apple,
grape or orange tree. I never bothered to see what's difference between
those trees, since they're not really that important.
  "Large Trees"
All of the three different trees are already planted all over the place.
The evergreen trees are easy to notice since they're different than Mora Tree
and Chestnut Tree in speaking of shape. The evergreen trees are common near
Workshop. (I only said this so you know where to look and find the evergreen
trees easily, just so you know what it looks like. Because the evergreen
trees are like anywhere, in the mountain and all. But Near the Workshop, there
are nothing but evergreen trees.)
The chestnut trees are also very common near Harvest Goddess Spring, in the
mountain. During the autumn, you'll see a lot chestnuts on the ground if you
go to the Spring.
The Mora Trees are colour-changing trees. In the spring, they're pink. During
the summer, they're usual green. During the autumn, they'll turn orangish,
with brown pines in its leaves.
--> If you want to chop down some trees for lumbers, I'd recommand you to go
    chop down the evergreen trees. They aren't very useful, except for the
    lumbers. The Mora Trees have the truffles nearby, while the Chestnut
    Trees drop the chestnuts. But the evergreen trees - nothing.
If you wish to plant the trees, I would advise you to plant them close to
other trees. It is to help their fruit productions. You can look at other
examples, such as the Orchard, Orange Trees in southeast, and Chestnuts Trees
in the Mountain. They're all next to other trees, and they do drop fruits more
often than the lone tree. Though, it is only slight increase.
--BOOK ABOUT SEEDLINGS--
"Seedlings require 3x3 squares.
 Fruit will drop when ripe, so
 you can pick up the fruit and ship it.
 It takes about 6 to 20 days for a
 tree to grow depending on the type.
 Before planting, carefully
 consider the location so the
 tree won't get in the way of buildings."
You can also leave your horse outside so it can enjoy the sunny days, or
at least cloudy days. But I definitely don't recommand that you leave your
horse during the rainy days. Otherwise your horse will get sick, and lose some
hearts. So I suggest that you keep checking your TV for weather forecasts.
If the weathergirl says that there'll be a typhoon or snowstorm next day...
(By the way, it means that you are unable to leave your house during the
 typhoon day, or snowstorm day so your livestock will suffer since no food)
But there is a way to avoid this siutation, so if you find out that next day
is dark one... Just hand feed your horse, and leave a fodder in the box. So
next day, your horse will eat that fodder while you're stuck in your house.
You can also use a miracle potion on your horse. Your horse will become
pregnant, and give birth to a foal! The horse miracle potion costs 1,200g.
* two hearts.
Now you can ride your horse. Now, your horse have two meters. It is the
"Heart Meter", and "Stamina Meter". In order to win the race in Spring/Autumn
Horse Race, your horse will need a lot stamina.
So you need to ride on your horse a lot so your horse will gain more stars
(stars are stamina icons in the game). I believe that you have to ride on
your horse for 8-10 hours total, in order to gain one star. In-game hours,
not real hours!
When your horse win the contest, it will become the Champion Horse. You can
sell it for 50,000g. Or keep it. It's entirely up to you.
Higher chicken's affection, better chance of the chicken producing better egg.
But it is not 100% all time. Even the chicken with ten hearts, can sometimes
give you a normal egg. It just means that more hearts your chicken has,
higher % for the chicken to produce Good Egg, or Special Egg.
TALK ------ Talk to your chicken everyday.
HAND FEED - Hand feed your chicken with bird feed.
WEEDS ----- All chickens loves the weeds, so feed the chicken with it.
You can also leave your chickens outside, but I won't recommand it. It isn't
worth it. The chickens won't lay the eggs outside, and you can feed the
chickens some weeds to boost its affection quickly. So you don't have to leave
your chickens outside to give it little boost in the affection, since the
weeds are very best method. You can leave the chickens indoors, and it won't
affect them very much. They won't get ill.
If the weathergirl says that there'll be a typhoon or snowstorm next day...
(By the way, it means that you are unable to leave your house during the
 typhoon day, or snowstorm day so your livestock will suffer since no food)
But there is a way to avoid this siutation, so if you find out that next day
is dark one... Just hand feed your chicken, and leave a bird feed in the box.
So next day, your chicken will eat that fodder while you're stuck in your
house.
And remember, the weeds aren't the bird feed! Just think it as the special
treats for the chickens. Your chicken will need a bird feed to eat. You can
keep feeding your chickens with many weeds in one day. Usually, 25-30 weeds
will increase your chicken's heart meter by one.
You can use an egg, laid by the chicken, and put it in the box (top-right
of inside chicken coop) Within a week, that egg will hatch and you have
a chick! It's cheap, and saves money.
TALK ------ Talk to your sheep everyday.
HAND FEED - Hand feed your sheep with fodder.
You can also leave your sheep outside so it can enjoy the sunny days, or
at least cloudy days. But I definitely don't recommand that you leave your
sheep during the rainy days. Otherwise your sheep will get sick, and lose some
hearts. So I suggest that you keep checking your TV for weather forecasts.
You should grow the grass field with your grass seeds, and leave your sheep
to graze the grass field. Long as it's outside, and long as there're plenty
of grass, you won't have to feed your sheep.
--BOOK ABOUT GRAZING--
"To take the animals out of the barn,
 call them with a bell or lead them with
 their reins.
 Animals love to be at pasture.
 Letting them graze also means
 they will feed themselves.
 Don't let livestock out on rainy days
 or they might get sick."
you will proceed to shear a wool from your sheep. Once you're done shearing,
you will hold a wool product.
009. PETS (DOG & PIG)
==============================================================================
At start of the game, you will get a dog from Ellen. You can name it whatever
you like. Its gender is unknown.
The dog has no purpose, really. Unlike most of the Harvest Moon games where
the dog will defend its livestock from the stray dogs, or herd the cattles
back in the barn, or participate in the contest.
But in this game, the dog is ... just a companion. But you will get the
musical note by increasing your dog's hearts up to three. You can pick it up,
and feed it the vegetables.
You can leave it outside, but soon as you enter other buildings, festivals,
or other places that take you somewhere else... Most of the times, dog will
head back in the house. So it is no point keeping him outside all time, since
he'll be back in the house after some times.
         ~          ~          ~          ~          ~          ~
In order to get a pig, you have to build a barn. It doesn't matter if it's
small or big barn. After Woody, Kurt and Joe finished building the barn, just
enter the barn and you'll see a pig there.
The pig is simliar to the dog, almost useless. The pig can use its nose to
search for the truffles, but it'll be long and hard to just get it to locate
the truffle. So it'd better for you if you just take your hoe and hit the
ground randomly, near Mora Trees, without the pig's help. It's more better if
you upgrade your hoe so it can dig up a lot squares.
You will get Oink-Oink musical note if you ship a truffle.
==============================================================================
010. WILD ANIMALS
==============================================================================
There are some wild animals scattered all over the map. You can try to find
them by checking out their usual locations. You can raise your friendship with
the wild animals by picking them up. You can also give them some gifts.
When a wild animal's heart is high enough, it'll visit you at your home. You
will earn the musical note if a wild animal visited you.
"HEART" listed in the wild animals, it means when it has certain number of
hearts, it'll visit you at the home. But each wild animal have different
heart requirement to see you at your home.
It seems that all animals' meters are varied.
The animals that will be around longer than other animals, will take more time
to increase their heart meters.
For instance. it took me longer time to raise the squirrel's heart - (I picked
it up and fed it as well, each time I see it, which is a lot of times)
But the duck beats the squirrel by a long shot, and yet I only picked the duck
up, never fed it the fishes. So it appears that the animals that will be
around one or two seasons will get more gains in the hearts, than other
animals that's around for three or all seasons.
==============================================================================
011. MINING
==============================================================================
There are two locations where you can mine with your hammer or hoe. They are
Moonlight Mine and Lake Mine. You can't reach the Lake Mine, until the winter
season. The Sunny Lake will be frozen so you can walk over to the Lake Mine.
APPLIES TO MOONLIGHT MINE AND LAKE MINE
When you see the cracks in the ground, shaped like X, you can stand on the
crack. There are two ways you can head, if the crack breaks. When "!" appears
above your head, and you'll fall down. You will skip some floors, about
1 to 9 floors.
However, if you have "?" above your head... Somehow, you will fall UP. Don't
ask me, I don't know how is it even possible. But you will skip some floors,
can be between 1 and 9 floors.
It's very good way to conserve your stamina since it doesn't take any stamina
to fall through the crack.
If you're on high floors, like 01-50 floors... Chances of you falling down
is pretty good. But however, when you're nearing the bottom floor, chances
of you falling up will be increasing. So soon as you reach 90th floor, it will
be almost impossible to reach 100th level by using the cracks only.
Another option is use your hoe to till the soil, and look for the opening in
the ground. Once you find it, you will go down one floor. But it'll take
your stamina, so I suggest you to be careful, and use the special trick.
- Walk slowly, and look for the flicker of black strip flashing on the ground,
  usually that black flicker is near the stairs. If you see it, use your
  hoe at that black flicker, and you'll find the opening. I find it, if you
  walk up/down pattern, finding the flicker will be easy. Once you get used
  to locating the black flicker, it'll be a breeze for you.
Sometimes when you break the crystals or cavern rocks, the gas will spill and
affect you. It can be bad thing or good thing. They're called the mine gasses.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| NAME         | EFFECTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Dark Smoke    | The dark gray smokes will scatter, with red swirls in middle.
                 It'll darken the floor so you can barely see anything.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Healing Smoke | The pink smokes will scatter, with shiny sparkles in middle.
                 It'll recover some stamina points (only if you are very near)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Dizzy Smoke   | The purple smokes will scatter.
                 Your directions will be rotated, but you can still get by.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Freeze Smoke  | The orange smokes will scatter, with yellow bolts in middle.
                 You will be unable to move for a while.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Agile Smoke   | The yellow smokes will scatter, with yellow bolts stuck on
                 you. You will be moving more faster.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Nullify Smoke | The white smokes will scatter, nullifying the effects of
                 other smokes, such as dizzy/dark/agile effects.
                            ~ MOONLIGHT MINE ~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moonlight Mine is northwest of the map. Go to Jamie's Ranch, and head west,
while hugging Jamie's Ranch's pink fence. You will see the cave, so enter it.
Congratulations, you're in the Moonlight Mine.

When you first enter the mine, there will be an empty floor. If you didn't
bring along your hammer with you, the entrance hole will not appear on the
floor. So be sure to carry the hammer and hoe with you!

If you want to find the pontata roots only - do not bring your hammer. Just
use the hoe to dig up on the first floor. You will find a lot of the pontata
roots. However, if you carry a hammer, chances of finding the pontata roots
will be deceased for some reason.

If you're looking for the good clay, reach the second floor. And use your hoe
on the floor a lot, and you'll find some good clays.

If you break the crystals or cavern rocks, you will find:

Junk Ore....1g
Copper Ore..50g
Silver Ore..100g
Gold Ore....150g
Rare Ore....200g
Moonstone...50g
Amethyst....220g
Aquamarine..230g
Diamond.....500g

When you go deeper in the mine, chances of you finding better ores will
be high, such as gold ores, and rare ores.

Level 41: Crystals only
Level 44: Several rare Ores appears here. Crystals only.

And the mainstream is Amethyst (34%), Gold Ore (34%), Rare Ore (32%).
That's all you'll find on those three levels. (41/44/49)
(maybe there's some Moonstone in there)

There are 100 levels in the Moonlight Mine. When you reach 100th level, you
can till the ground, and you'll find some money. And also, if Tim has moved
in the town, he'll be there to award you a power berry on your first time.

You can't get to the Lake Mine until winter. During the Winter, Sunny Lake
will be frozen so you can walk over it. Just head for the centre of Sunny Lake
There will be a cave, so enter it. Congratulations, you're in Lake Mine.

The Lake Mine is gem rich, so you will find a lot of gems in here. It is very
good money source during the Winter.

Unlike the Moonlight Mine, there are some floors that contains only type
of the gem, nothing else.

012. FISHING
==============================================================================
You'll need to catch each type of the fishes to obtain the special musical
note. There're more indepth information about the fishes, in another guide.
So be sure to check it out. But for this guide, I'll only list the chart so
you can look at it for quick reference.

There are eleven locations where you can fish.

High River - It is located in the mountain, above the Suspension Bridge.
Upstream River - It is right between the Suspension and Duck Bridge.
Midstream River - It is right between the Duck Bridge and Encounter Bridge.
Downstream River - Right between the Encounter Bridge and Sunset Bridge.
Delta - Under the Sunset Bridge, where the river connects with the ocean.
Beach - Uh, it's right on the beach, south of the map. Pier counts as beach.
Stardrop Pond - A lone pond, northwest of Sunny Lake. It has one fish in it.
Sunny Lake - Head far east, right on the road until the scene blackens out.
Underground Lake - Reach 100 level in Lake Mine, when Sunny Lake freezes.
Island (Northern Water) - Ride on the dolphin to reach the island, and fish
                          north.
Island (Southern Water) - Ride on the dolphin to reach the island, and fish
                          south.

**You need to befriend the dolphin first. When it gains one heart, you can
ride it. To befriend it quickly, just greet it, and give it the fishes.

I also added the easy fish recipes in this chart. Under a fish, there are some
recipes where you can make easy with just one or two same type fishes. So you
can look at the recipes to see how can you boost the fish's value by cooking.

* 1# = Huchen Fish King
It can be caught only a day after rainy day. I find the best result is fish
northeastern of Sunny Lake. From there, you have extremely good chance of
catching the huchens.

* 2# = Squid Prince Fish King
It can be caught only a day after rainy day, or thypoon day. Unlike the huchen
fishes, however, you don't have extremely good chance of catching it. It's
more of 25% chance of catching it during the day after rainy day.

* 3# = Snadore Fish
It's same as the squid prince. It can be caught a day after rainy days.

* 4# = Jamasquid Fish King
Once you reach 100th floor in Lake Mine, there'll be only one fish circling
in the underground lake. You can catch the jamasquid on your try... Long as
you do not have another jamasquid in your rucksack. If you do, then you'll
catch nothing but cans if you fish in the underground lake. So be sure to
drop it on the ground. Then fish, and you'll catch the jamasquid.

Chestnut.......50g | Can be found near the chestnut trees, near the Spring. |
BlueMistFlower.500g | Can be found around the mountain, but is very rare. |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The herbs and berries are very common around the mountain, but they sometimes
pop up far from the mountain, anywhere around the town.

A) More Forages
In the first spring, you'll notice there're a lot herbs, very berries, and
other kinds all over the land. But as the season progress, you slip through
the few seasons, and maybe even an year... You'll notice that the forage
items are becoming more rare. It is because of those sneaky weeds. They'll
pop up all over land, and taking up space. Long as there're many weeds, the
forage items won't be able to pop up in the places that's already filled with
weeds.

So my advice is when you can, pull up the weeds many as you can and feed them
to the chickens if you want to boost their heart meters. Or you can use your
sickle to cut down many weeds, so you can upgrade your sickle.

B) Clams
The clams are the hidden items, so you can't see it easily as you do with
herbs and other items. It is located in the beach, so pick up your hoe and
head down to the sandy beach. Use your hoe to till the beach, the spot between
beach and water. The clams are usually found there. But even so, you will
still have some hard times by trying to find just some clams (unless you're
really lucky.)

C) Truffles
The truffles are simliar to the clams. They're hidden in the ground. They
can be found under the Mora Trees.

xx1. MAP
==============================================================================
Please excuse my poor map drawing, but I tried my best. Oh well.
In here, you can find where the shops are at (or will be at) and as well
other buildings, names of locations, etc.

I didn't draw the northern part, which is the mountain area. The people won't
live there so I didn't include it.

I tried but I can't draw a map small enough to fit in this section. So I had
to spilt the map into half-half. Hope you can still read the map.

Legend:
W  = Water
.  = Sand
x = Large Boulder - you can't walk on it.
I = Cliffs (can't get over the cliffs)

015. FESTIVALS
==============================================================================
In the game, there are the special festivals where you can participate. It can
be for pure fun, or prizes if you win some contest.

Just so you know, the attending villagers are usually not random. Most people
in the festivals, are ones that have highest friendships with you. So if you
wish to see certain individual in some festival, just befriend her/him, and
s/he will be there. It applies same for other villagers that aren't spouses.

And some festivals will require you shipping a certain item. In order to
ship some item, just head to Flower Bud Square, and put a item in the blue
shipping bin, next to the sign.

If you see "REQUIRED" in the festival lists, it means you have to ship the
required item listed, in the blue shipping bin (located in Flower Bud Square)

                             SUMMER FESTIVALS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--------------------.
| BEACH FESTIVAL     \________
------------------------------------
WHEN:     Summer 03
TIME:     06:00am - 06:00pm
WHERE:    Moonlight Beach
REQUIRED: n/a
M. NOTE:  "Blue Sea, White Clouds" (only if you win a Swimming Contest.)
SPECIAL:  You will meet Nami here, and possibly Louis if you're lucky. He'll
          participate in the Swimming Contest so you can see him at there. But
          chance of him being there is pretty rare.
WHAT:     Come here to get some tan, and have fun. Well, the major point of
          this festival is Swimming Contest where you can participate to win
          the prize. Swimming Contest is the mini-game, and there are three
          swimmers (four including you) to compete to win.
    =========================== Win the swimming contest to get the prize.
    = 1st PRIZE : Power Berry = You can compete again in next year to win
    =========================== next prize.
                     SWIMMING CONTEST MINI-GAME
The objective of the Swimming Contest, is to touch all four bouys. There are
the challenges in your way, and they are the competing swimmers, currents,
whirlwinds, and the dolphin.
CURRENTS = The ocean will change the direction, and push you in one direction.
           You can use the current to your advantage, giving you more speed to
           reach the bouy. But sometimes, they'll pop up suddenly or change
           the direction, pushing you in wrong direction. So watch out.
WHIRLWINDS = They'll pop up in one place, and stay there until it disappears.
             Whatever you do, avoid the whirlwinds. If you got too close, it
             will pull you in and hold you for few seconds.
DOLPHIN = It swims around the ocean, and you can hitch a ride. But you can't
          control the direction where a dolphin is going, so you may end up
          going in wrong direction. I suggest that you do not use the dolphin.
HOW TO WIN - Press [A] to swim, but do not smash [A] repeatedly fast as you
can. You need to hold down [A] until your swimmer finished its one swim, then
press [A] again for you to swim once again. That way, you will swim quickly.
Use the current to move you to the intended target, and try to not bump into
another swimmer. If you do, you'll stop swimming so it slows you down.
If you still lost, you can always reset the game and try again. Repeat this
until you win.
