About me

This is my first guide. Please give me any input or correct any mistakes that
I have. My email is arachnidkid12@yahoo.com, and my screenname is

as I have schoolwork to attend to. Furthermore, the table of contents does not
display the whole guide; instead, it will show what is in the guide as of now.
I also realize that this is not aesthetically pleasing, so please do not email
me about that topic. I am not a good drawer, but I will add some ASCII art in
later versions.

Introduction

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, abbreviated to HM:MM, is not unlike
previous Harvest Moon games. It revives the old themes of the N64 game, all
the while adding its own unique elements. If you have played previous
Harvest Moon games, you should be familiar with this. This game still
maintains the basic elements: find a spouse (which is now optional,
unlike A Wonderful Life, and maintain your farm.

This game does not go without additions. Adhering to the title
"Magical Melody", one of the side goals (dare I say 'main'?) goals is
collecting the 100 magical notes in order to the save the Harvest Goddess,
which has turned herself into stone. Each time you have collected 5 notes,
you must visit the Harvest Goddess, forming in instrument. Once ten
instruments are made (50 notes), a "melody" will play, reviving the
Goddess. However, you must collect the other fifty in order to actually
finish the job of collecting. However, players of Friends of Mineral Town
will be disappointed when they find out that they will not be able to
enlist the help of the Harvest Sprites.

Furthermore, Magical Melody has additions which will make your daily
profits more entertaining. Jamie, your rival, will have a strong farm by
the time you move to Flower Bud Village. You will also meet him in the
first cutscene in which you see the Harvest Goddess turn to stone. You
can marry him if you so desire.

Not only does Magical Melody have these new features, but the village
will also grow or shrink depending on your daily activities. For
example, the blacksmith, Tai, will only move in after you ship ores, and
Atelier Saibara will only move in after shipping a Good Clay. However, not
only do people move in, they also move out. If you do not befriend
people or buy their products, they will leave. However, some of these
cases are unavoidable, such as Basil, who will move out every Winter and
come back in Spring. Therefore, it is important to befriend each and
every person in the village by at least one heart, even though you may
still have your heart on a potential spouse. Magical Melody still has
yet more updates. Notice I have been saying 'spouse' as of yet. There
are ten potential bachelors and bachelorettes in the game, not including
Jamie. This means that you can play as a girl or boy. Lastly, at the
beginning of the game, you may choose three properties in which you
want to live at. Personally, I like the River Property, but it is a
matter of personal preference.

Magical Melody still retains the most basic aspect: friendship.
However, you can now see a numerical amount in the main menu. As stated
previously, attempt to befriend everyone by at least one heart. However,
at 2 hearts, a bachelor(ette) will come and give you a visit and gift.
The same happens at 5. The only exception is Jamie. Your rival (for
example, you are competing for Maria against Ray), will give you a
letter expressing his or her friendship. The cheapest but slowest way is
simply to talk. The first time will allow you to gain a very small
amount, and second even less. Talking again after that will be ineffective
as well as repetitive. Every few hearts, the first time you talk, they
will say something different. Townspeople will also give you useful
tips. After you have gotten adequate money supplies, consider to start
giving the townspeople gifts. The second time you speak to somebody, it
will be a form of goodbye, such as "See ya!" or simple "Goodbye." Some
will give advice, such as Alex.

I. Getting Started

When you first start the game, there will be a scene in which you
decide the property, your name, your dog's name, and learn some basic facts.
A brief description of each property is as follows:

Village Center Property: This property is small, but located next to
the town square, therfore making it useful on festival days, and a
convenient area to throw away your trash int the trash can. Due to its lack
of size, however, you will not be able to put a chicken coop or barn on
it without purchasing more property. It is also located near the mine.

Riverside Property: This property is medium sized with fertile land.
Because it is placed next to a river, it has great opportunities for
fishing, all the while being conviently located next to the livestock
store. However, you will find that there is not enough room for a barn and
chicken coop.

Ocean Property: This property is huge, but has unfertile soil. It is
located next to the ocean, so festivals on the beach will be easy to
access. You are also located near the Flower Shop and Woody's Shop, so
these are added bonuses. You will be able to place many animals here,
but your crops will be below-par.

Furthermore, during the cutscene, the Mayor will tell you to talk to
the villagers. Heed his advice, and he will also tell you something that
will be important later in the game.

"Do not litter on other people's property." Make sure you litter only
on your own property or throw it in trash cans. If there is a blue sad
face above your head and you hear the sound effect, "Boo...", that
means you have littered, which will decrease the villagers' affection for
you. You will see a scene in which the Harvest Goddess will turn to
stone. Continue to watch until it is over.

Now, it is Spring 2. Refurbish your house with the meager items you
have. You can do this by heading over to your diary and pressing A. You
will have two options: Diary, which will save, and Furniture. Select
Furniture. Make sure you take out the refridgerator, then put anything
else you want in your house. Then head over to the calender and check
it. Then, go to the TV. It will have four channels: Weather, Season,
Education, and Variety. All these should be watched daily. Now you
can start the game.

a. Your Tools

At the start of the game, if you examine your tool box, you will find
that you have several iron tools. They are listed below:

Axe
Bonfire Set
Fishing Rod
Hammer
Hoe
Pedometer
Sickle
Watering Can

These should all be familiar to veterans of Harvest Moon, or to anyone
with farming sense for that matter, except for the Bonfire Set, which
is one of the new additions. I will briefly describe the function of
each tool.

Axe: A heavy, iron, stamina-draining axe. It is good for chopping
branches, although stumps and trees will be drain your stamina. Make sure
you bring along some food when you set out to chop down stumps or
trees. Upgrade it as soon as possible. The axe is needed to gather lumber,
which will be used in expanding houses, getting a chicken coop, etc.

Bonfire Set: This is the only new tool in the game. Strike a match and
light a bonfire to do some basic cooking of fish. However, this
strangely can only work by a water source, and it might take a few tries even
then to get a successful fire going.

Fishing Rod: Self-explanatory. If you don't know what one does, then
try using it while facing a water source. Upgrading it is not
necessary, but it is recommended.

Hammer: Use it to shatter rocks. This will not be very useful, as
rocks will not provide anything and the small ones can be thrown into
water. Upgrading is not recommended.

Hoe: This will plow your fields. It is stamina draining, but you will
not use it very often unless you are in a mine, so it is partly useful.
Only upgrade if you like to go in the mines a lot.

Pedometer: This is useful only for the first 10,000 steps you take, as
you will get a note from it. Then you can keep it in a tool box for
the rest of the game. If you do not know, a pedometer measures the
amount of steps you take.

Sickle: This will cut your grass and cut weeds. It is stamina
draining, so do not use it while getting rid of weeds; rather, pick it up and
throw it back down to make it disentegrate. Upgrading is not necessary,
but helpful if you have a large meadow.

Watering Can: This will water your crops. You must refill it while on
a pier or in a well/watering hole. Upgrade as as soon as possible.

More tools will be added as you look at the shop data and learn the
prices.

b. Controls

A: Use this button to interact with villagers, pick up and drop items,
and refill your watering can. It will also confirm choices. One of
Magical Melody's smaller changes that was not listed in the Introduction
(which I recommend reading), was that when items are dropped, they will
fade away instead of instantly disentegrating, with the execption of
weeds.

B: Use this to go back from the menu, cancel choices, and put items in
your rucksack.

X: This will equip tools. When the tool is equipped, use it by
pressing X again. You can also get on your horse by pressing this button.
Lastly, to charge items, press and hold X. There are several stages.
When you have reached the appropriate stage, release X. Note: You can
only ride your horse when it has two or more hearts, and is not a foal.
You may not ride your horse out of the barn; instead, you must lead it
out with the reins and then mount it.

Y: Use this to load the game menu. (See the section 'The Menu Screen'
for more details about the menu.)

L: Use it to whistle for your dog, pig, and horse. You can also toggle
through your menu screens.

R: You can go into 'strafe mode' when holding this. There will also be
a square in front of you, which will show which square you will use
your tools on. If you are just beginning the game, it is useful for
watering your crops.

Z: This is possibly one of the most useful buttons in the game (not in
having the most functions, but having the most extra use). You will be
able to see which properties are whose, which will be useful because it
is unadvisable to litter on public or private property not owned by
you. Pressing Z will also show you the names of all characters, including
animals, in the game above their heads. If their names are green, you
have given him/her a present. In an animal's case, you have already
hand-fed it.

c. The Menu Screen

Press Y to access the menu screen. Use L and R to toggle through the
pages. There are several pages.

Items: This will show you your rucksack and its contents. In the
beginning of the game, you will only be able to store five items in your
rucksack ata time, but there are opportunities in which you can expand it.
You can get 10 items by buying a new one at the Junk shop. However,
getting 15 is a little trickier. When you befriend Martha, who will move
in, befriend her. There will be a scene, where Martha will request
String. Give it to her, and she will expand your rucksack.

Your Farm: It will show your family, pets, fodder, bird feed, lumber,
and livestock. There is also another subscreen where it will display
your status. If you are a "Sleepyhead" or "Very Sleepy", you will use up
stamina faster.

Animals: This will show you your animals, how they are feeling, and
their heart level. There are four subscreens in total, displaying your
horses, cows, chickens, and sheep. Unlike other Harvest Moon games, you
can have multiple horses.

Shipping: This will display what you have shipped. Subscreens are:
Fish, cooked food, harvested crops, food and dairy products, and other.
Other includes ores, jewels, medicine, and much more.

Village Map: This is a map of the village, where you can see where
villagers are located if they are outside, and any new buildings.

Musical Notes: This shows how many notes you have gotten, along with a
description if you have gotten them.

Villagers: YOu will see the villager's affection, as well as the wild
animal's affection. There are two subsections: Villagers and Wild
Animals.

Memo: This has records, books, and dishes. Records display how you are
doing against your rival Jamie. You can also see a ratio at the top of
the menu page. Total displays total money earned. Ranch is animal
produce, farm is crops, and other includes food, ores, accessories, etc.
You can reread any books you have already read under the books
subsection. You can look at your many recipies in the recipe book.

Other: You can see the lowest level in both caves, how much garbage you
have gotten rid of, money found, and much more.

e. Starting Shops/Buildings

These are some of the shops that you will start out with. I will say
all prices and a basic description.

i. Blue Sky Ranch

Cutscene: When you first come in, there will be a small scene in which
you get the Animal Notebook. Harvest Moon veterans should be familiar
within, but new players should read the information contained within
before proceeding.

Basic Information: Closed on Thursdays and Holidays. Open 6:00 A.M. to
6:00 P.M. Located at 3-4 Flower Bud.

You will receive a menu, where you must select a choice as follows: Buy a
Product, Buy an Animal, Sell an Animal, or Buy Feed.

Under "Buy a Product"

Brush: 800G
Milker: 1000G
Clippers: 800G
Bell: 500G
Animal Medicine: 800G
Cow Miracle Potion: 1500G
Sheep Miracle Potion: 1000G
Horse Miracle Potion: 1200G
Good Egg: 120G
Good Milk: 300G
Good Cheese: 380G
Good Mayo: 180G
Good Butter: 350G

Notes: If you choose not to be a rancher, you can buy products from the Blue
Sky Ranch. New Tools are introduced here: the Bell, Brush, Clippers, and
Milker. The bell will call in all your animals if you ring it near the door.
If one brushes their animals (excluding chickens), then their affection will
raise. The milker milks the cow, and the Clippers are used to shear sheep.
Lastly, you can buy an egg and incubate it and raise it from there.

Under "Buy an Animal"

Chicken: 1200G
Calf: 3500G
Lamb: 2500G
Foal: 3200G

Notes: Notice that all these are babies, except for chickens.
This means that you will have to raise them before they can produce anything
of value. For example, if one tries to milk a calf, it will simply bawl and
its affection towards you will decrease.

Under "Sell an Animal"

Horse: 1600G
Winning Horse: 50000G
Cow: 1700G
Winning Cow: 3000G
Sheep: 1250G
Winning Sheep: 1800G
Chicken: 600G
Winning Chicken: 100G

Notes: A winning animal is simply an animal who has won their respective
contest. However, you will still end up losing money unless you sell a horse
(see "Buy an Animal" for prices of buying all the animals. You can also get
money by getting one chicken, incubating and raising more, and just selling
them. You can only sell sheep if they are unshorn.

Under "Buy Feed"

Fodder: 30G
Bird Feed: 20G

Notes: I would recommend you to make your own fodder, because it would greatly
help you in terms of money. However, bird feed does not matter, as you can
create 15 sets of feed with one fertilized ear, and you can ship one fertilized
ear for 300G. Therefore, you could also buy 15 sets of feed without losing
anything (15x20 is 300, for those young gamers).

Notes: Lumber is expensive (50G each); therefore, for the demanding Level 5

upgrade unconsecutively (for example, if you wanted to have a Level 5 House and
you had a Level 3, then you could skip Level 4.

II. Building a Foundation

a. Crops

Crops are vital for the survival of your farm as they are the main money-makers
of the game, unlike AWL. However, to maximize one's profits, they must have
good soil quality, a decent field, good crop formations, and some basic
knowledge. Techniques and other crop knowledge will be described in
detail later. Now, however, I will list crop terms and a succint summary.

Vegetables- These are the main money makers of Harvest Moon. They will bring
in a high amount of money, especially if you follow the guidelines that you
will find below. These are necessary if you wish your farm to become
prosperous. Vegetables are also extremely useful for cooking.

Herbs- Useful in cooking, dyeing, making yarn, and making medicine, herbs;
although they do not sell for much, are all-purpose. These can also be found
in the wild. Ship 30 to get Alex to build the Sanatorium, which will
introduce new people to Flower Bud.

Grass- These cannot be shipped or used for any other obvious form of usefulness
except for perhaps decorating your farm. However, if one cuts it, it will
automatically be converted to fodder, which will be extremely useful in the
long run, saving you lots of money. Furthermore, grass stays for three of the
four seasons-spring, summer, and autumn.

Trees- These, although not major money-makers, stay around for the entire year,
making them a profit in the long run. They also drop stamina-healing fruits,
which is also extremely useful. However, the require a specific pattern to
planting, so I will go into more depth below. The only drawback is that it
does not drop fruit every season (only the appropriate one), and drops them
sparingly.

i. Quality of Soil

There are three color types of soil:

Light Brown: This is the most unfertile type of soil. A prime example is the
Ocean Property. Nearly all of this is light brown. It is highly recommended
to fertilize it before planting crops.

Medium Brown: This has average fertility. This can be found on the River
Property in small amounts. When planting in large amounts of medium brown
soil, fertilizing is recommended, but not necessary.

Dark Brown: This is the highest degree of fertility. Plants thrive in this
and will ship for high amounts. This can be found on the River Property in
abundance. No fertilizing is needed.

There are differences other than the speed of growth based on the quality of
soil. Plants grown in high quality soil ship for much more than plants grown
in low quality soil. You can tell the difference by these traits. Plants
grown in low-quality soil will have no symbol in their description. Plants
grown in medium quality soil will have a musical note after its description,
and plants grown in high quality soil will have a star after its description.

ii. Formations

There are several different formations although some will not work simply
because they are random and do not utilize the soil well at all. The
formations will be listed below. The "X" means tilled, and the "O" means
untilled.

XOX
XOX
XOX

This is what I use, for I find it to be the best formation due to the fact
that it is easy to water and does not take a very long time to harvest. Also,
I can transform it into any of the other formations listed below at any time.

XXX XXX
XXO XXX
XXX XOX

These are also good, as they utilize space as well as save time. The blank
spot is there because a regular watering can cannot reach the middle without
it, and you cannot harvest the middle one without the blank space either.

XXX
XXX
XXX

This is the standard one, although I do not find it very good, because you
cannot reach the middle one. However, if one has a silver through goddess
watering can, then they can reach it and they can harvest it if it is not a
reproducing crop.

iv. Basic Crop Knowledge

Question: What crop is best to grow?

I will list the best crop to grow below.

Spring: Strawberries, Sells for 400G in fertile soil. If one does not have
access to strawberries, then breadfruit will sell for 300G and reproduces
every two days.

Summer: Corn, Sells for 300G in fertile soil and reproduces every 2 days.

Fall: Eggplant, Sells for 240G in fertile soil and reproduces every 3 days.

v. Grass, Herbs, Flowers, and Trees.

Grass is crucial if one has many cows, horses, and sheep. When cut with a
sickle, it is converted to fodder, saving 270G for a 3x3 square. Because
grass is 50G for a 3x3 square, one ends up saving 220G. Furthermore, grass
reproduces and will last for three seasons. It can also be walked upon, making
it an invaluable item. Plant as described below.
XXX

XXX
Grass does not have to be watered unless it is still a seed.

Herbs are also useful in cooking. Also, when used with string in a Dye Pot,
it can make colored yarn, which sells for more than plain wool or plain yarn.
Ship 30 Herbs to make Alex build the Sanatorium. However, these do not sell
for much and generally not good as gifts. Herbs can also be found in the wild
during its appropriate season. Plant them as you would for non-reproducing
vegetables.

Flowers ship for very little, although if one ships enough, they can make Lyla
move in and open the Hearty Lyla Gift Shop. Flowers are also very good for
presents. They can also be found in the wild during their appropriate season.
Plant them as you would for non-reproducing vegetables.

Trees are basically complicated vegetables. They drop fruits only in their
specific season, but they will last the whole year. Plant them in the pattern
outlined below:
OOOOOO
OTOOTO
OOOOOO
T=tree
O=nothing
Lastly, make sure beforehand that the trees do not get in the way of buildings.
They can also be found in the wild.

b. Livestock

After one has a decent amount of money from farming crops, they can move on to
encompass livestock. Livestock can bring quite a lot of profit, and can earn
many prizes in contests. You can also purchase different machines to get more
money, such as a mayonaise maker and a dye pot. However, unlike previous HM
games, one must first buy a barn or chicken coop. I will describe some basic
terms in ranching.

Cow- These give milk every day (unless sick or unhappy). Milk is useful in
cooking, and can be shipped for high amounts of money if one raises their heart
level so they will produce higher quality milk.

Chicken- These will lay eggs daily (unless sick or unhappy). The real profit
in raising chickens is selling them. One should first buy one chicken, then
incubate and raise another, then sell it. This will give you much profit,
because the eggs do not sell for as much as the milk or wool.

Sheep- Many people consider this the worst animal to be owned. They only
produce wool weekly, which is a major disadvantage.

Horse- Unlike previous HM games, one can own more the one Horse. These do not
give any products, but if one wins a race, then you can sell it to the Blue Sky
Ranch for 50000G.

Pig- This too does not produce anything, but it can sniff out truffles, which
are found under evergreen trees. One can then sell the truffles. You
automatically get it after you get the barn.

i. Barn

Buy the Barn from the Workshop. You can either buy a Level 1 Barn or a Level 2
Barn, or buy a Level 1 barn and upgrade it. The first time you enter it,
Gourmet will give you a pig.

ii. Cows and Sheep

The cow is the most profitable of the animals. Buy a calf from the Blue Sky
Ranch, and wait for it to mature so that you can milk it. If one milks it
before it has matured, then its affection towards you will decrease. You will
need a milker specifically. For every other animal (except for chickens) you
will need a brush, extra animal medicine, reins, and fodder. You will
automatically get the reins after you get your first animal that is not a
chicken.

Brush your cow daily to raise its affection towards you. Also, you can talk to
it and hand feed it so that it will gain affection as well. Even if one milks
it, it will gain hearts. Lastly, keep it outside for it to gain hearts. Try
to make your cow be doing "terrific" (it will have a big smiley face next to it
s name when it is) so that it will be harder to make sick when there is a
typhoon or similar disaster. If you are the lazy type or want to spend more t
ime with the villagers, you can leave it in a meadow filled with grass. Just
check the weather channel daily to make sure it won't rain the next day, or
else it can get sick and lose hearts for you.

You can also buy the butter and cheese maker to increase your profits from the
milk. Simply press A in front of the maker and butter or cheese will pop out.
However, only do this when you have money to spare, as they are quite
expensive. The cheese maker, although more expensive, will reap in more of a
profit. I will list the amount of money that the cheese and butter sell for.

Milk: 140G
Good Milk: 200G
Special Milk: 400G
Butter: 160G
Good Butter: 230G
Special Butter: 460G
Cheese: 175G
Good Chese: 250G
Special Cheese: 500G

Sheep do not reap in as much profit. In fact, I do not recommend you to have
more than one sheep (the one sheep merely for the contest). Buy a baby sheep
and wait for it to mature so that you can shear it. You will need clippers,
which can be bought from the Blue Sky Ranch. Use the same affection techniques
as listed with the cows.

You can buy the dye and yarn maker to transform your wool into colored yarn,
which will sell for much more. However, Special Yarn will sell for more than
dyed yarn, because there is no degree of quality in dyed yarn. You can get the
most profit from dyed dirty wool. I will list the wool and yarn first, then
the dyed yarn.

Dirty Wool: 630G
Dull Yarn: 860G
Ordinary Wool: 900G
Yarn (regular): 1200G
Shiny Wool: 1800G
Special Wool: 2400G
Yellow Yarn (made from Moondrop Flower): 1240G
Purple Yarn: 1275G
Red Yarn: 1280G
Green Yarn: 1300G
Pink Yarn: 1350G (made from Pinkcat Flower): 1350
Orange Yarn: 1330G
Blue Yarn (made from Bluemist flower): 1700G

Notes: The colored yarns that I did not state what herb they are made from are
made from the color herb in their name (e.g, Purple Yarn is made from a Purple
Herb).

iii. Chicken Coop

Buy a Chicken Coop from the Workshop. You cannot expand it.

iv. Chicken

A chicken's main profit is to sell. First, buy a chicken (or egg, your choice
and raise it), and incubate its egg. Then, raise the chick and sell the
chicken. Make sure you have at least one chicken to lay eggs all the time.
You should have animal medicine and bird feed. Chickens cannot be brushed, but
one can hand feed them to raise their affection, and leave them outside, but
it is not recommended, as they won't lay eggs. Also, feed chickens eggs and
their affections will raise.

To raise your profits, buy a Mayo Maker. I will list the selling prices of the
eggs and mayo.

Egg: 56G
Mayo: 84G
Good Egg: 80G
Good Mayo: 120G
Special Egg: 160G
Special Mayo: 240G

v. Pig

The pig will dig up truffles for you, but you can easily find them without it.
First simply go under a Mora Tree and dig around it with your hoe. You will
find some eventually. You get this from Gourmet during a cutscene the first
time you walk into the barn.

vi. Horse

Buy a foal from the Blue Sky Ranch. Wait for it to mature, then do the
standard affection raising techniques as you would a cow and sheep. You can
only ride after your horse has 2 hearts. Try to get as many stars as you can
(by riding) before you join a race. Again, after your hosre wins a race, you
can sell it for 50000G!

c. Stamina and Fatigue

Stamina is now very important in this game. You are no-longer the super-strong
high-stamina person of the game; on the contrary, you lose stamina alarmingly
fast. To counter this, I have outlined a list of foods and power berries that
will make your life easier. If one collects all five power berries, then their
stamina bar will double. However, when you start the game, your stamina bar is
miniscule. Therefore, you will need to plan ahead and bring food with you
wherever you go. However, before I begin, there is a very good guide for
stamina in Wolfire's guide on GameFaqs. You might want to read that, as well.

i. Good Foods

I have done some research on stamina-healing foods. These are the best ones I
have found. More may be posted later.

Grape
Orange
Apple
Honey
Toadstool Saute (1)
Jamasquid Sashimi
Special Egg
Good Egg
Shrimp sashimi
Snadore Sashimi
Special Cheese
Special Milk
Good Cheese

These are in no particular order. All of these heal at least 2/5 of your
stamina when you have no power berries. Because there is no visible bar for
Fatigue, I do not know how much fatigue these foods heal.

(1) Toadstool Saute heals ALL of your stamina AND Fatigue!

ii. Power Berry Locations

1. You can get one for winning the Swimming Contest held in Summer.
2. You can get one by going to the bottom of the year-round mine if the
blacksmith has moved in.
3. You can get one for winning the Rank B Horse Race (your Horse must have 6-8
hearts).
4. You can get one by donating a pumpkin to the pumpkin festival and then
attending it.
5. You can get the last one by getting 30 Musical Notes, then going to the
Harvest Goddess spring.

iii. Fatigue and More Stamina

Fatigue does not have a bar, although you can see how fatigued you are in the
description of yourself. It will say "Fine", "Sleepyhead", or "Very Sleepy".
The sleepier one is, the more stamina they will use when expending energy. As
far as I know, you can heal small amounts of fatigue by eating Very Berries and
Blueberries, or heal it entirely by consuming a Toadstool Saute. You can also
eat a pontata root or any herbs/herb products. Lastly, there are two more ways
to recover Stamina: One is to visit the Chicken Festival (Thanks to the
boards!) and one is to visit the Harvest Goddess after getting 50 notes. Of
course, sleeping will also heal fatigue and stamina. Also, rain and possibly
snow will make you lose fatigue faster. You can easily tell if you are sleepy
by if you constantly yawn, stretch, etc. WARNING: SODAS INCREASE FATIGUE.

d. Cooking

Cooking is essential to Harvest Moon if one wishes to maintain their stamina
and increase their profits. Many items raise in profit if they are cooked.
For example, an Egg+Pot gives you a boiled egg, which sells for 140G. A
regular and good egg sells for 56G and 80G, respectively. A boiled egg will
sell for 140G no matter if it is made through a regular, good, or special egg.
Therefore, it can increase your profits if you make one through a regular or
good egg (special eggs sell for 160G). Another good example is an Orange. If
one makes Orange Juice (by using a Mixer+Orange), they will make a 50G profit.
You can make apple soda by using the aging pot with two apples, which will
result in a 140G profit. As one can see, cooking is very beneficial to the
farm's economy. I will list recipies below.
