Absolutely not... You'll open up some new game play modes which are fun, and add a little something to the game. Depending on which difficulty you're playing and how quickly you finish the game, you can unlock a Rocket Launcher and a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson, which for some reason the game calls a "Samurai Edge". Ridiculous... to me that equates to calling a hammer a screwdriver. So it's "no" to restarting with all your first round items. But "yes" to restarting with a BAD ASS arsenal.

statusNo, once you start a "new round" you'll begin only with the Beretta and the Survival Knife (if you are playing has Jill) or only the Survival Knife (if you are playing as Chris), and if you already unlock them, you'll also begin with the Rocket Launcher or the Samurai Edge.
Unless you unlocked a new weapon then no, sorry!
