The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest
Question from whobaa
Asked on: 5/24 4:07AMAs per the topic: I can't figure out how to get the final chest in the eastern (rightmost) room on 3F in the Fire Temple.
The map seems to indicate that it's locked in a cage there, but I can't figure out how to open it.
(Note: this is for Master Quest. It's obviously not an important chest - I've finished the Quest without it - but it's blotting my 100% record ;)

Ah - forgot to mention that it's the south-most (bottom) chest on the map in the room :}

@ LordHellmaster: it's the room that the scarecrow position is in (big room with lots of boulders in Ocarina, or Lizalfolos in Master Quest). Shall check around on the scarecrow route for any switches, since I don't reckon I've done that.
Note that I can't actually see the chest; it's just marked on the map :}

@ ---Nintendo---: yeah, that's the room - but the chest is the opposite end of the room to that Skulltula (and I'm talking about the Master Quest version, not the Ocarina version... the boulders are only in Ocarina). Thanks, though :}

statusThis room sounds pretty familiar but do you get to this room by using a Hookshot on a Scarecrow to ride a rising platform to the room? It's been a while since I've played this so if that IS the right room, there's a switch that causes the chest to be approachable but you will need the Longshot (I think) to reach the chest in time before the timer runs out. If this is not the right room, please give me more details.
In the room with the boulders there is a fake wall you can take down with a bomb, but I don't really remember if there is a chest behind it (I think there is a Skulltula), so if you haven't blow the fake wall, you should check, there might be the chest.
Oh ok, I haven't play MQ in a long while so I don't really remember XD
But anyway, reading your question again, I think you miss the chest behind the cage that is in a wall, to get the chest, you need to hit the switch inside the cage (but first you need to get close to the cage by jumping in the top of the labyrinth walls), I don't remember very well in which way you need to hit the switch, but you can try throwing a bomb, a bombchu or by jumpslashing (jumping to the cage and pressing B in the air so Link hit the switch with his sword), after you hit the switch, the cage should open, now just get inside and open the chest that is over one of the crates.
Hope that it's what you needed ;)
Augh! I spent ages on this one!
It's the cage at floor level that doesn't seem to have anything except three crates in it, yes? There's actually a hidden switch inside the crate closest to the cage door. I walked as close as possible to that close right crate and did a spin attack. This triggered the hidden switch and opened the cage door.
There were just bombs in there, though.
