statusThe rise in the price is probably a combination of two factors - the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 and the game's sales.
As is usually the case with high-profile series, a new game in a series will often raise interest in that series, meaning more people will be looking for earlier games in the series.
Additionally, The Twin Snakes did not sell all that well, so there are not very many copies available.
Since there are so few copies out on the market, the demand is high, meaning the price will also end up high.
It's a lot like Final Fantasy VII. Both games are very highly rated and have a high demand. Basically, it all boils down to the simple principle of supply and demand.
Actually the Twin Snakes sold well. Well enough for NIntendo to add it to the Players Choice group. This is more about MGS4
They sold a more then decent amount of copies of the game in which made it possible for Nintendo to throw the game into the Players Choice category. The original version of the game (the one without the Players Choice label) became rare at this point because they had stopped making them and people didn't want to give them up. Even when the game went Players Choice, they only produced half the amount of copies there were for the original.
Yes, I could imagine MGS4 having a little to do with it as well.
Try looking at movie stores like Blockbuster. I purchased mine used at a Movie Gallery for $9.99.
I found mine at a music store (musicworld) for 19.99$.
I got tired of looking and bought it on Amazon for $60.
They didn't produce a lot of copies and most people who bought the game kept it. I found it much cheaper to buy at GameStop, because $35 dollars isn't that bad, because buying a new game today costs around $50 dollars.
i bought mine on ebay used for 35$. Unless you get lucky like the other people posting here and find one around 10-20$ your gonna have to pay around 30-40$ and thats used. If you go for new expect to pay double that.
well it is so much because it is one of the more rare GC titles plus gamestop is probably the cheapest way you are going to get it unless it is cheaper than 35$ on ebay
$35 for a "good" gamecube game isn't that bad. I remember coughing up a decent amount of money for my copy when it came out. If you're really going to be cheap about it and are interested because of MGS4 then you could probably grab the original off of PSN as a digital download. Sure it's graphics wouldn't be as great and some other things, but it'd be a cheaper legitimate option.
I found it at a Movie Trading Company for 16 bucks. Don't trust Gamestop.
