Question from zero_of_stoikos

Do I really need more players?

Is there a way to finagle this game to operate with only one system/game/player, or do I really need to find three more dudes to play this?

Awesome! I'm glad I can fly solo, 3 extra players aren't easy to find. But how do I begin the game solo?
I'm playing "A Link to the Past / Four Swords" on a DS Lite, and when I try to begin, it remains at the title screen trying to connect to other players via link cable.

The portable adaptation is multiplayer only, while the console version can be used as either. You also do not need the GBA adapter for the solo adventure, instead an inlay will pop up allowing access to the same features(and graphics).

Nope, you can do it all by yourself. It's also more fun by yourself, sadly, unless you like competing over triangles while still trying to cooperate to solve puzzles, all with the silly GBA adapter thing.

Answer

On the GBA version, you must be playing on a GBA with a link cable. It is not one player. But the GC version does have one player. And the multiplayer is an option, but to use it all players must be using a GBA and be connected to the Gamecube. Which means one GBA and link cable per person.
