Super Mario Strikers

Review by Liu Domi

"Greatest of all Mario Sports Games."

Graphics: 9/10

Sound: 6/10

Gameplay: 6/10

Multiplayer: 10/10

Graphics- The game looks absolutely spectacular. Perfect three dimensional look for all charatcers. Every character looks like they should in real life, while still maintaining a classic game look. The stadiums look flawless. The shocks that occur when you knock an opponent into the sides, amazing. Color changing for side characters and cleets: not a detail out of place.

Sound- No game is complete without good sound. However, Super Mario Strikers, somewhat fails in this area. No real soundtrack is present in this game. However, the sound effects in this game are what saves it. The sound of the crowd when you make that shot makes you smile on the inside. The sound of your character's trotting and the ball being kicked along gives you a true sense of realism. But, once again, the sound fails. The characters don't have an impressive dialogue. In fact, no characters really even have a dialogue. Other than pre-game taunts, goal-scoring cheers, and the occasional random shriek generated by being kicked into the shocking force field, the playable characters don't say anything.

Gameplay- This game is incredibly fun.... for about the first few weeks you have it. Eventually, after playing the same style and cup battles OVER and OVER again, you tend to leave inside the game in the box for a while. Besides that, unless you change the difficulty(DUH), the game gets too easy. And when you put it to "Legend" difficulty, the game gets pretty hard with some characters. However, the fast-paced play keeps you playing on without becoming bored.

Multiplayer- Most definitely the greatest aspect of this game. Whether playing in versus mode or on teams, multiplayer keeps you playing this game. The versus mode, although sometimes somewhat one-sided, gives you the opportunity to claim and defend your supremacy over your friends. It even leads you to occasionally deliver a *friendly* punch in the shoulder. Co-op is an even better multiplayer mode. Playing all-star cup battles with a friend offers you and your pal a test on how well the two of you can communicate and presents a decent challenge on how well you can actually play the game. Put quite simply, the muliplayer system from Super Mario Strikers is what will keep you playing for the years(Yes, YEARS) to come.
