"Ooh, baby you want me? Well, you can get this cheap tease for nearly free."

BMX XXX is probably the most controversial game that I've ever had the opportunity to play. Advertised mainly over its strong sexual content and its raw crude humor it was slapped with a Mature rating, and even acquired censorship on the Playstation 2 console. Despite all the negative feedback from soccer moms, Wal-Mart, and other such voices this game didn't do all that bad. I realize some bought it merely for the nudity, because there just so happens to be some perverts out there, but if you look past the nudity it's not a bad little game. The tasks and characters can be quite funny, and the environments are wackier then the predictability of the Tony Hawk series.

Gameplay

So basically, just replace your skateboard with a BMX bike and you're set. You play each level completing tasks, obtaining power-ups, unlocking secret… revealing videos. Customizing your character into one of the sultriest girls out there or creating a rather rad dude is part of the fun here. I quite liked the create a player even though it's pretty small and generic. Some of the missions to complete can be unique and down right vulgar, but hey if you've got an open mind it's no big deal. The completion videos you unlock feature strippers doing pole dances and other things, and getting nude. While I'm sure this is something a young teenager could get off to, it's really nothing more than an amateur peepshow. So it shows a few breasts here and there? You can see that on TLC. As for the bike tricking itself, it's pretty much solid. You don't see characters doing impossible things in here like in Tony Hawk where you can ollie 10 feet into the air. Overall, I think it's pretty solid and fun.

Graphics and Sound

I left out a story section, because there isn't one, this isn't Tony Hawk's Underground. As for the graphics, I find them very mediocre. This is something you would expect to see on the PSX console. Even the videos feel like poor video files, that have been reduced to terrible quality. Some things here are just too blocky and obviously having it on each console shows that graphical improvement between more powerful systems was not made. It's tolerable though. As for the sound it has it's theme track by N*E*R*D - Lapdance, as well as some other mainstream radio songs. Nothing too spectacular, but at least some of the VA's are interesting. I must say the “Pimp” character gives me some laughs, and there's sure to be something in here that might appeal to you.

7/10

Playtime/Re-Playability

Since the game's play is pretty solid, you should have no problem here creating characters, and building up their stats and bike's customization. Some tasks can be really fun as well, so replay value is pretty high. This game with all its tasks creates a decent completion time that's several hours in the playing.

9/10

Final Verdict

Ignoring the personal views of everyone who has a problem with this game for it's sexual content, or those in favor of it, and getting to the heart of the matter that is the freestyle bike tricking itself, one thing is certain. This game is definitely average. It's not worth buying. It's only worth renting. I'm not sure if you can even rent this anymore, I'm sure it depends where you rent your games. If they have it in stock though, give it a try (if you're old enough, or if your parents will let you) and see how you like it.
