Review by Sharindokumaru

"Ligers and Tigers and Genos, oh my!"

If you're going to be reading this, then you already know that this game succeeds Zoids: Battle Legends (ZVII in Japan). It's more than just a simple recycling of a game, though. Let's itemize it, shall we?

Pros: Many more zoids, as well as flying ones, new stages, characters, four battle modes
Cons: Few zoids have more than three color schemes, mission mode's annoying, very difficult for beginners.

Graphics: 10/10

The graphics in this game are absolutely beautiful. Enough said.

Sound: 8/10

The bgm for this game has been reworked in some areas, and isn't as annoying now. Always a plus. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Japanese voices aren't as loud (now do they speak as slowly) as the English ones in Battle Legends. Unless you're really listening for them, on average volume, they're pretty easy to ignore.

Story: n/a

There isn't a story. Even if you are interested and can read Japanese, you can't because the Freeloader that you'll probably have to use to read play the game obliterates the text, so don't worry about it.

Gameplay: 8/10

In the last game, there was an abysmally high learning curve...In this game, it's even higher. Playing the game is fun, but the myriad of new features makes it difficult to really find your niche quickly, and as such, you'll probably be losing quite often.

Difficulty: 9/10

Ugh. This game isn't very hard to begin with, if you're an average player, but wait, there's more! To unlock certain zoids and such, you'll have to beat Mission Mode on S rank, which is no walk in the park, even on the easy setting. Mission Mode is an incredible annoyance (Deathsaurer with 1100 health wtf), and you'll probably find it best just to go through it once for verisimilitude.

Overall: 9/10

It's a fun game, overall. You'll have to import it, and may not be able to find a price that isn't too exorbitant, but if you liked the previous game and want even more zoids to play around with, then go ahead and buy it!
