Pitfall: The Lost Expedition

My videostore seems dry of any real good Game Cube games, but then I came across this one. At first I was in love with it, but then...
The game is actually really fun to play. It's one of the most over-looked platforming games ever. It kind of plays like Zelda, but with an original twist on it.
The game is about medium in difficulty. Some of the mini-games are sorta difficult, but most of the time you can get past them without trying more than once. Sometimes, you'll get stuck but soon figure out why and be able to get past that part quickly. I guess depending on your age, this game will either be hard or easy.
Like I said before, Pitfall: The Lost Expedition kind of plays like The Legend of Zelda games. You have to collect items to use to get into other areas and you use the items by assigning them to a button (like in the Zelda games). This game also uses the C stick in an unique way because when you're trying to collect treasure idols, drink water, fill up your canteen, etc. you have to move the C-stick in a certain direction to make Harry's hand go that direction.
The famed Pitfall Harry and a group of explorers and researchers are on their way on an expedition when their plane fails and lands on a strange island. Harry must rescue everyone from the island and discover the amazing secrets of the natives and get off!
The graphics are kind of low-rate. I know that the graphics could have been kicked up a notch. The sound is alright. Everything seems to fall into place and it has a pretty good musical score. There is some hilarious parts in the game that makes it kind of worth playing. However, the reason this game got such a terrible score is because of the constant glitches. Sometimes, the entire screen will go black and you'll either have to load or quit whatever you're doing to try to find your way through the darkness. I've also had it freeze quite a few times on me. This forces the player to save constantly which I hate. When I play a game I actually I want to play it, not have to quit every few minutes to save it!
The game is about medium length and there is some replayability as you can go find all the explorers, find all the treasure idols, unlock all the extras at the Shaman Shop and so on.
The only way I would recommend if you rent this game is if you don't mind saving every few minutes. Otherwise, just let this almost perfect (if it wasn't for the stupid glitches!) slip by your gaming world.
