Rampage: Total Destruction

Review by Glutted

"Rampage: Total Destruction does not have enough new things"

The Rampage series have been around for maybe 10 years now. The newest one, Rampage: Total destruction has the exact same mechanics as the old arcade ones. It seems as if the only thing new about this game is polishing up the graphics. And that is simply not enough to make a good and original Rampage game.

Storyline: 3/10

You play as monsters. You used to be humans, but you got mutated. You go all around the world knocking down buildings, and that is about it. This is the same plot that all the other Rampage games had.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics certainly do meet Gamecube game standards. You see a lot of detail and the textures are done well. You travel all around the world, but all the buildings still look the same.

Sound/Music: 7/10

There is no music. This game does have some voices, but all you hear is just the screaming of people when you pick them up and eat them.

Gameplay: 5/10

Except for some secret characters, they did not put anything new in this game. You just go around knocking down identical buildings in cities all around the world. All the cities look exactly the same. All the different levels have a bunch of identical-looking buildings, and none of them resemble the city they are supposed to be in at all. L.A. looks the same as New York City, New York City looks like Tokyo. They also did not add in any famous sites of the city for you to knock down, so don't expect to be knocking the Empire State building or Natural History Museum any time soon!

All of the characters have the same exact moves, and the only thing that is different about the 30 characters is the skins that the developers put on them. So you probably won't even care about unlocking the secret characters. That makes the replay value drop down completely.

Overall: 6/10

This game is worth the buy if you have NOT played any previous Rampage games, and you are sure you will like it. If you have played previous Rampage games, you will be really disappointed. Why? Because they did not add a lot of new things to this game. The gameplay is the same as all the other ones. This game does not have enough new things to feed the nostalgic Rampage fan.
