Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

Review by Moonsummit

"Congratulations Sonic Team!"

Well done Sonic Team. You made one of the best games around -Phantasy Star Online- turn into a little card game. Why did they do this? I think I have the answer, just read below and see what I have to say about this game;

What is Phantasy star online? And what is Episode 3?

Phantasy Star Online is divided into two games now on the gamecube. Episode I & II being one game, and episode III being another. PSO Episode I & II still today is one of the greatest games available on the GC. So then, after seeing it's success, Sonic Team decided to release the 3rd episode on the GC and not the Xbox. They have now turned it into a card game, which takes up to three hours to complete one mission.

Graphics: 7/10

Same as the old game. Perhaps improved slightly, but not enough to notice the difference. Just an average graphic game. But to be honest, we normally expect more from Sonic Team. Nothing to be impressed by here.

Gameplay: 4/10

I'm sorry, but the gameplay dropped down a few feet being compared to episode I & II. This game is far too slow, and there is no combat anymore. All the rare weapons before, have been turned into common little cards which you can get after playing for about 30 minutes. The classes do not matter anymore, although you can make your character, you can't actually use him/her. You just get to command other players and not actually play with your own character. For players who have not played Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, this game could be ok. But for proper PSO players, hell no.

Sound: 7/10

Not much different from the first game. Very similar actually, just the usual battle and environmental music. Nothing spectacular here.

Replay Value: 8/10

I guess this game could last a while if you actually like card games. You could re-do missions and get the cards which you don't have. Exciting... cards...

Overall: 6/10 (Not an average)

Like I say every time, I do not take averages. Music is not as important as gameplay. This game feels like a fill in for PSO EP I & II more than anything else.
I hope they will prove to us they can make another good PSO game in the future.

Pros:
*Takes a while to complete

Cons:
*It's a card game
*Slow
*Boring
*Repetitive

Peace~ Moonsummit AKA Ink Eyes
