One Piece: Grand Adventure
Review by nld200xyz
"So much like Grand Battle Rush only... better."
Okay, basically, this game was released a year after One Piece Grand Battle, which even One Piece haters loved. Although some may consider it a carbon copy with a few added attacks, I say it's an improved version of Grand Battle.
Gameplay: 10/10
Undoubtedly one of the best features. While it's not that much different from Grand Battle, a few things are changed. Features that are similar include the fact that you get a lot of room to move around, and as everyone knows, a good battle is the kind where there's lot of atmosphere, and this game's got that. Also, each character has over 20 regular attacks, 2-3 super attacks and 2 secret attacks. It's fun to fight with all these features just for fun. As for Adventure Mode, you go sailing around in your ship going from island to island accepting various challenges and battles along the way (And maybe snagging a new character or two). Going around the map gets tedious and frustrating at times, but it's easy to figure out.
Graphics: 9/10
As expected, the characters are still deformed beyond belief. Still, they all look true to the show and are very detailed and creative. The strange exotic designs will have you hooked on the characters. There's also the surroundings that you play in which are brilliantly done.
Sound: 8/10
I give this 8 mostly because the characters still use their American dubbed voices. Luffy still sounds like a little girl with a soar throat and Sanji still sounds like a hoodlum with a cold. All in all, it's what we're all used to, so we might as well deal with it. As for music, while some is just like the Grand Battle, a lot is changed and the music in this game is brilliant and beautiful. Even the victory fanfare was improved.
Replayability: 10/10
Why such a high score for this game? Simply put, the fighting style of this game is addictive and can leave you hooked for hours. The unique and well planned fighting system and numerous attacks make it worth playing over and over again. You might never get tired of it.
Rent or buy:
Well, with fighting games it can be either or. If you're just playing to see what it's like and what all the fuss is, rent it. If you're actually playing for true enjoyment, hours of entertainment and the sake of unlocking every character, buying this is your ticket to freedom.
Overall: 10/10
Truly one of the best fighting games of today. I really enjoyed it and I'm sure even whether or not you like One Piece, you will also love this game as well.
