"You could do much worse than Buffy"

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds is based on the popular tv series, which I've never watched. The tv series was based on the popular movie, which I have seen a long, long time ago. Buffy is an enjoyable, but sometimes frustrating game.

Graphics: Mediocre at best. Ugly at worst. While not horrible, they just aren't on par with what other Gamecube titles have to offer. The game looks like a high-end N64 title.

6.5

Sound: The voiceovers can be annoying at times, but overall you have to appreciate the effort that went into them. The Buffy music rocks. The sound is probably one of the best aspects of the game.

Controls: The game controls well enough, however there are some issues with the camera. It just doesn't move as freely as is should. There is also an issue with the fighting. When you're in the middle of a heated battle, your character tends to get turned around and facing the wrong direction. This can become annoying, but thankfully, there is a block button.

Gameplay: The only complaint I have here is that some of the puzzles are frustrating. It's not that they require a whole lot of thinking, they just require a whole lot of mindless searching for items. I sometimes find myself just running around pressing the action button trying to find the next item.
On a positive note, the fighting is pretty fun. It's especially fun when you learn some of Buffy's cool moves or Willow's cool spells.

7.5

Overall: This game is on par with other, similar action titles such as the Max Payne and James Bond games. While there isn't as much shooting as there is in those games, there are many other similarities in these type of games. If you like this style of game then you should think about picking up Buffy. You could do much worse than Buffy, and you would be hard-pressed to find a better action game based on a movie or tv series. I don't regret spending 20 bucks on this one. Maybe you could even find it for less.
