Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Review by MetallicTreecko
"The force is with this game even more!"
Lego Star Wars II is the anticipated sequel to the hit video game Lego Star Wars. The game has a certain magical quality to it, most likely because of the graphics. The game has all the awesome features you'd expect from a Star Wars game. From the great music to the nice and unique gameplay. But what exactly is it that makes this game so great? Let's find out.
Story 10/10
The story is based on the original and "better" Star Wars trilogy. You start on the Tantive IV during the Imperial Attack in A New Hope and end by going into the Death Star II and destroying the main reactor in Return of the Jedi. Between those two moments, the game covers all of the highlights of the movies. Yet the highlight of the story is the fantastic humor that's added to it. For example, while Luke and Obi-wan Kenobi are going to Mos Eisley Spaceport in A New Hope, R-2 falls off of the landspeeder and catches up to them. In The Empire Strikes Back, the "I am your father" scene is a classic; as Darth Vader pulls out a picture of himself as Anakin with Padme and points to Luke. And in Return of the Jedi, when Luke jumps back onto the diving board of the skiff and bounces up and down on it. These moments and many more are what make this game so funny that you'll probably fall out of your seat.
Music 10/10
The game's music is loaded with the awesome score of John Williams. No matter which level you're playing, the classical music from the films will be playing. The music changes depending on the situation. When you're just running around, some slow-tempo music will be playing, but when you start a fight, the music's tempo will increase. The music will be sweet candy to anybody who's a fan of John Williams' score.
Graphics 10/10
Everything in the game, EVERYthing, is made from Lego blocks. Every single character and vehicle is made out of the popular blocks. All of them will look pretty eccentric, but even with the Lego graphics, they still look nice. The environments are nice 3-Dimensional areas that Star Wars fans will find familiar. The great graphics are another thing that make this game fantastic.
Gameplay 10/10
The gameplay is very simple, meaning almost anyone can pick it up and start playing right away. You just use the B button to attack, A button to jump, and X button for various actions. Each of the classes (Gunner, Jedi, Bounty Hunter, Droid, and Vehicles) all have different handlings, but each one is very easy to learn and a little harder to master. Yet, people who played the first game shouldn't have any problems.
Difficulty 4/10
The main thing that people probably won't like about this game is that it's far too easy. It's because you virtually can't die. If you should happen to do so, you'll just lose some studs and restart right where you die. You can buy a lot of cheats that will multiply your score or make you invincible all together. The hardest part of the game, however, is trying to get a lot of studs and get "True Jedi" status. Sometimes, almost every single stud in the level is necessary.
Overall 10/10
Don't let the easy difficulty fool you; if you do, you'll be missing out on a great game. If you're a fan of Star Wars or a fan of the first game, definitely get this game. You won't be disappointed.
