Killer7
Review by Assasin_Yoshi
"Play as the coolest Assasins EVER!"
Killer 7 is without doubt one of the best 3rd and 1st person shoot-em-up games of all time! The 1st person shooting mode feels brilliant and is easy to control. There are a number of really cool characters in the game, which will no doubt find some way to astonish, exite and stun you throughout. It is a game with controls that probably feel better on the Gamecube version, rather than the PS2, but you either love the controls or hate them.
The seven different assasins in the game are unique in their own way, which equally and individually helps you proceed through the game. Examples of this would be if there was a blood stain on a wall or a barrier, the only Female assasin "Kaede Smith" would slit her wrists, revealing a skinless woman which in turn breaks, or reveals whatever is behind that particular wall or barrier.
The bosses also on the game are very unique and cleverly created, as they too have individual goals or perceptions, that you must overcome and vanquish. The game itself does depict some rather adult references and themes. The killings in the game can sometimes become rather violent, or duell on metal torchure. There are also some sexual themes depicted in some of the scenes, especially with Harman Smith's assistant "Samantha Sitbon".
My selection of faovrite characters in the game are "Con Smith" the small blind boy who is fast and dilligent, especially when he is used to take out large numbers of "Heaven Smiles", with his automatic pistols. I think that "Kaede Smith's" Scoped Handgun is really cool, as it can scope inwards to an enemy from far, which helps alot when there is a "Heaven Smile" who can run. "Dan Smith" is the coolest of the seven assasins, as he wears the cool suits and ties and talks like a true gangster, with his hench revolver to back it up.
My favorite bad-guys in the game have to be the two bad-ass Father and Daughter "Curtis Blackburn" and "Ayumi Blackburn". Curtis is what Harman describes as a "punk with with a gun", which pretty much true. With Ayumi, she is on a complely different scale of danger and madness. She may only be a 14 year old girl, but is far more dangerous than her father, with her running at a blinding speed along with a pair of Uzis'. She is without a doubt, the hardest of the bosses in the game, and she is the only boss you have to fight twice. Not the type of girl you would like to meet late at night in a dence car park....like you end up doing heh!
There are a number of mysteries that you will encounter in the game, that you need to think of at the time or play on to find out more. Becuase Killer 7 is full of such random these, it gets to the stange where the player expects anything. If a giant carrot were to run around the corner and eat you alive, you wouldn't be suprised, esecially on some of the levels. It's like the characters you play are high on LSD, abnd that it is all in your imagination, but in your state of mind, your not to sure.
The storyline does have a thing for quickly changing the subject, which can frustrate the players if they haven't even figured out yet what was previously going on. But there is a good thing about the complex story, which is that your mind becomes so puzzled, that you strive to proceed in the game, hoping you will find out eventually why particlular strange events are happening.
The game like stated before, can be mature at times in many different ways, which does limit itself to at least older teenagers and above. The game does have a knack to shock the viewers, but for those who are old and mature enough to play ahem! e.g. myself lol will find enjoying it massively. But be warned, this is a "Mature" game title rated by "The Entertainment Rating Board of Software", and that decision is very accurate.
Around the near end of the game, you have to make a unanomous decision....but I won't tell you what, it makes the game extremely worth while to play, and you end up realising in one big exlpaination...over a course of five minutes, what the game is all about. So if you find yourself becoming rather frustrated with the game's story, don't worry, it does end up getting explained at the end.....but you will have to think deeply into what is doing on, throughout the game to understand the outcome.
There is also, once you have completed the game, a "Killer 8" mode, where you can play as the young Harman Smith, and re-play the levels in the game.....not to sure what levels they are, but I guess you will have to find out.
Killer 7, if played by the wright audience, is an extremely fun, exciting and compelling game that you may have ever played...or will ever play. So all I can say is.... buy it and ENJOY IT!
