"This game isn't great. It's awesome."

This game isn't great. It's awesome.

The title is very true. The free for all action, the storyline action, the mission action, and the combo's are unbelievable. You can play as Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and even Itachi Uchiha. The overall feeling of this game is recognizable, and not one person can shake that off. This game is only in Japan right now, you can play it on an American Gamecube with a freeloader. This is a true action game, and no Naruto fan could hate this game.

The basic game play is fighting. You can pull off strings of combos. Your chakra bar fills up in a special way. If you are Chouji then you can eat BBQ chips to increase your chakra. If you are Zabuza Momochi or Kisame you can double jump and press B to gain chakra a lot faster than most characters. You can take advantage of these people and use their special techniques, but sometimes it isn't as fair to other people. In this game you can use a variety of "special moves." For example, Naruto can use the Rasengan and the Naruto Combo and Gaara can use Sand Coffin and Shukaku's arm. Also, Kakashi can copy some opponents moves. There is also a thing called the "Y" cancel. If you hit a person into the air and hit Y, you can continue the combo from the beginning. If you are really good, you can Y cancel then predict your persons KnJ, then side step it, then repeat. The other basic thing in this game is called the "side step." If you hit L or R you move to the side, you can use this to avoid an attack or turn around. Sometimes the characters do not turn around automatically and can be attacked from the back. Take advantage of the side step and conquer you way through a tournament, or just beat your best friend. The opponent has a life bar. When it depletes all the way to none, they are defeated. If you hit an opponent you notice that their is a red bar also. That is how many times you have hit you opponent without stopping, or without them BnJ'ing or KnJ'ing. It is believed that Neji Hyuuga has one hundred percent health and defence.

The graphics in this game is stunning. The Rasengan is unbelievable until you use it ten more times than usual. The Chidori sparks my interest. And Tayuya has a better looking special than in the Anime. Everything in this game has good graphics, nothing in this game has a bad graphic to it. The thing that is bad though, is the glitches. If you are Jourbo you can lift your opponet up after you use a combo. It is a very cheap glitch, but it can work to your advantage. Other glitches include the Chouji glitch and the Jourbo glitch. If you try and do your "unblockable attack" and you are playing with infinite chakra (and using Sasuke Uchiha) you can burn them up without them moving one step. It has a very horrible aftermath if you try and do it again. Unfortunatley I have only played in Free for All and a Three Man Cell, I do not know if there is a storyline to this game or not. A three man cell match is basically a 3v3. You can pick three people on your side, then the other person picks three. This is a very fun game to play, and then there are even more combinations to do in this mode! Sometimes the game may lag very badly though.

The sounds in this game are equal to the game play. You can hear each hit land, you can hear the Chidori going straight through the opposition, and you can hear Sakura pounding your enemy to a pulp. Also there is the sound effects from the Anime itself, so you can be guaranteed this game will not disappoint. Naruto GX is another story, however.

Buy or Rent?
Buy it. If you are an American and need it in English, then I guess you will have to wait for a long time. If you do not, then buy it, make sure you get a freeloader though, or you will not be playing it. This game is too awesome to miss out on. Make SURE you buy this if you are a major Naruto fan who watches the Anime English subtitles.
