Super Bubble Pop

"Not so Super Bubble Pop"
When I first bought my Gamecube, I expected alot. I was planning to get many of the popular titles out there in a short mattter of time. To my suprise, Super Bubble Pop came with my Gamecube for free. I'm guessing that it had such a low sales count that it came free (plus the fact that it was only $10). This made me anxious, yet hesitant of playing the game.
Gameplay: There are so many new puzzle games out there that are fake duplicates of the classics. In my opinion, Super Bubble Pop is one of those duplicates.
The basic objective of the game is to eliminate the colored bubbles by shooting out your DJ's bubbles at them. If you connect three or more bubbles, they explode. There are many powerups and a special move you can use in the game to help you win.
The game consists of two modes, single player mode and multiplayer mode (two people). In single player mode, you play in four levels. They are the training mode, chilled mode, Groovin' mode, and HardCore mode. Each mode has a series of levels that you have to beat. By playing certain modes you can unlock two DJ's (you start out with three).
Graphics: The graphics in Super Bubble Pop are very brilliant and bright. During a game, theres all these lights flashing the screen so it gets kind of ticks you off. The DJs' graphics aren't horrible, but you can't say that they're great. Their hands, face, and feet are blended and smooshed so they look like clay figures. The graphics of this game are focused more on the field and the background.
Audio/Sound: Super Bubble Pop is specifically made for it's music and tracks. The music in this game is supposed to keep you into the game. The sound effects are okay and the music consists of techno and lots of other genres. Since the games only $10, its like buying a CD with a game included. Eventually the blend of the fast music and bright lights makes your eyes and ears hurt. This is why I turn off the music after a while.
Controls: The controls in this game are really simple. A is to shoot, control stick is to move, B is to use your powerup, and X is to use your special. Personally, I expected much more moves and controls in the game. They're leaving out the L/R triggers, the C stick, Y, and the Control Pad.
Replay Value: The replay value for this game isn't very high. One single player mode will take forever just to beat and it frustrates you when you lose. Again, there aren't many different modes to play so that just hurts to replay value even more. If it wasn't for Multiplayer mode, I would probably give the replay value score a 2 or 3.
_____________________________________________
Overall: This game can be confusing at first and can have lots of frustrating qualities. For example, you can accidentally shoot a bubble in the wrong column and create a huge mess for yourself. The controls are simple and the graphics are okay, but lack in alot of areas. The replay value is not as good as I expected.
