"A disappointment to the Pokemon Franchise"

Pokemon Channel was an attempt by Nintendo to create a game where you could interact directly with a Pokemon. However, it did not work out well. The basic story of the game is that you are a tester for a new all-Pokemon Television network. Your job is to believe it or not, watch television. Shortly before you start with this exciting assignment, a wild Pikachu barges into your house and you are forced to watch tv with it.

Graphics: 6/10 - The graphics are fairly decent, with Pikachu being the best animated pokemon by far. The other pokemon pretty much have one or two animations that are just repeated. The backgrounds are also decent even though the areas are fairly small.

Sounds and Music: 4/10 - The music selection in the game is very limited and sounds are repeated very often. Pikachu's voice will begin to grate after a while and some of the channels on the television are even worse. Since they are run by Pokemon that can only say one thing, get ready to hear Pokemon names over and over again.

Game Play: 2/10 - The game play is extremely limited and tedious. When you first start playing, the only thing you are allowed to do is watch television. This wouldn't be so bad if the channels were actually enjoyable. After the third episode of Pichu Bros. turning off your television while the channels play will seem very enjoyable. There are also two side quests you can do. One is collecting the Pokemon Nice cards which you get for going out of your house and answering pokemons' questions or buying them on the television's shopping channel. The other side quest if you want to call it that is buying stuff for our house. You don't get anything for it other then the satisfaction you bought stuff. That's really all there is.

Re-playability: 1/10 - It's not that enjoyable to play through it once. There really is nothing to keep the game going if you finish it.

Rent or Buy: Neither. It's not really worth renting, because it takes a minimum of three days to beat, because it uses real time to count events as completed, unless you mess with the GameCube's clock. It's also not worth buying, because there is little to do in the game and virtually no re-playability.

Overal: 3/10 This game is not impressive by any means. There is a very limited set of things you can do, and it can become tedious and boring very quickly. Even if you are a die-hard Pokemon fan, I would not recommend this "game." Just stay clear of this one.
