Mario Party 7

Review by Dark Ninja

"The WORST Mario Party in the series."

I was hugely disappointed after trying this game out. It was full of flaws. Out of all the Mario Party games out so far, this is definitely the worst.

First of all, the storyline is awful. Mario and his friends go on a cruise, and Bowser is not invited. Now he decides to ruin the party. This story is stupid, and also unoriginal. I mean, can't they have a villain besides Bowser for once?

Next, we have a terrible host. It's Toadsworth, Peach's loyal servant. He often makes annoying noises, like ahem. Also, he uses old-fashioned talk. He says things like old bean and young cricket. This is also annoying.

Now, there are the minigames. A lot of them are unoriginal, boring and easy. Like there's this one games where you just hit the block over and over to get coins. I mean, even a 4-year-old could do well playing that!

Now, they added a few new things to the boards. One thing is Koopa Kid Orbs. They are a terrible addition to the game. Why? Because they make the game more luck based. We already have enough luck in this game, no need for more! Also, sometimes you get them on a free orb space, which causes you to not be able to get an orb. Very disappointing. There's also Bowser Time, where every 5 turns and does something bad like steal coins. Why did they have to include Bowser Time in the game? It just makes things worse.

This game seems to be much more luck based. There are many luck based minigames, there's Bowser Time and Koopa Kid Orbs, and a lot of ? spaces in this game seem to have to do with luck. Plus, it seems like the computer players always get lucky somehow.

The main new thing in this game is that 8 players can play at once. The bad thing about it is that you have to share a controller if you're playing with a friend. And playing on teams sucks now. When playing on teams, both players have to move together. When playing teams with 8 players, only one player on a team gets to play, unless it's an 8 player minigame. There are minigames where you can play with 8 players. They're not that great though, you could easily play them with 4 players.

The final thing I dislike about this game is the dueling. When you duel, you can't select what you duel for, unlike previous Mario games. When you win a duel, you get to hit a dice block. The bad thing is, you could get nothing. The thing is, you seem to roll nothing more often than not. It's a huge disappointment to win a duel only to find out that you don't get anything. This also makes the game even more luck based. As I stated before, this game already has enough luck involved!

In conclusion, I just have to say one thing: DON'T get this game if you haven't already! There are much better Mario Party games in the series.
