Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
Review by KidInfamous
"Probably one of the best Godzilla brawlers out there..."
Godzilla has had his share of both good and bad games. Good examples are Godzilla: Kaijuu Daikessen, and Super Godzilla. Both for the SNES. One was a masterpiece that should've been ported to America., the other a piece of garbage that needed many improvements. However, there will always be one that 's completely irreplaceable: Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee.
Story: 9/10
The story has absolutely nothing to do with the movies aside from the monsters themselves. Some aliens from something called the Vortaak are invading earth and have taken control of all monsters... except one. Godzilla? No. Not quite. Actually, the story mode allows you to choose any monster you desire, including Godzilla 90's, Godzilla 2000, King Ghidorah, Anguirus and many more. The plot is the one monster that's free defeats the other monsters from mind control until it gets to the final boss. (Mechagodzilla or Mecha-King Ghidorah depending on who you select)
Graphics: 9/10
Although a little cartoonish, the graphics are very good. Very vivid and colorful, and there are very few glitches. There is only one noticable flaw; the way the buildings fall. They simply collapse. That's it. No explosions, no fire. Nothing. That's not really a BIG problem. The graphics are still excellent.
Sound: 10/10
They didn't feature any themes from the movie aside from the King of The Monsters own, which plays after you the beat the game. That doesn't mean the music isn't any good. It's excellent to be honest. Perfectly fit to get players riled up to punch, kick, smash, grab and throw monsters all over different parts of the world. And even on the Vortaak Mothership. The impact affects are flawless, and so is the sound overall.
Gameplay: 10/10
Unlike the movies, the movies are very fast and very exciting. It runs smoothly. What more can I say?
Controls: 10/10
This is another great feature of Melee. The controls are very simple and are easy to remember. You have a punch button, a kick button, grab, beam, jump, duck, and block. Simple. Nothing too hard to remember. The controls are very accurate.
Entertainment: 9/10
Even after seeing the ending, you'll want to keep playing for many reasons; 1) The unlockable monsters. 2) To beat a high score. 3) All kinds of different play modes.
Overall: 9/10
This game has a few minor flaws, but is still a gem for any Godzilla fan. You'll want to keep this game because A) It's probably the best Godzilla game to date, and B) Cause it's a superb game in general. Don't rent it, nuy it.
