Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Review by goppers
"The best GameCube game made!"
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is one of the best games ever made for any Nintendo consoles. My favorite part about this great game is the graphics. There is only one thing I don't like, and the problem is too small to affect the overall rating. I think Ring Attack is too hard, but I finally beat it, so I can't take that into effect for the overall rating.
I picked the top five ideas of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and rated them. The rest of the ideas I didn't use, like "Options"(how many things you can do on this game) are either too hard to rate, or they're just not as important.
Storyline: ? / 10
Most Mario sports games, including this one, do not have any apparent story line. If there was one, it would be somewhat along these lines: "Mario has challenged his friends (and enemies) to a golfing tournament. Who will come out on top?" Considering that there is no story line, I can't really rate it.
Graphics: 10 / 10
The graphics of this game are great. The characters are drawn / designed very well, especially Bowser. I like his spikes on his back. A second thing I like about the graphics is how every time you make a shot, the camera angle changes. It looks very professional in my opinion. Also, the greens, rough, and tee boxes look excellent. Notice how I didn't say fairways? The grass looks like it was mowed down completely flat. If I were the maker of this game, I'd make the grass look like it actually stands up. Other than that small problem, I love the graphics of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
Sound: 10 / 10
Another thing I want to rate is the sound. I really like the music of the courses, especially Cheep Cheep Falls and Bowser Badlands. Also, I like the soothing music of the Title Screen. The SOUND EFFECTS are even better, though. Just little things, like the sound of the ball being hit, get my attention. Overall, the sound and sound effects of this game are perfect.
General Gameplay: 9 / 10
The general gameplay of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is very good, especially all the different modes to choose from. I really like the Birdie Challenge, because the course is up in the trees. The only thing I don't like about the gameplay of this game is the Ring Attack. The last couple challenges are too hard to complete in one, two, even three tries. But, I got it finished, and unlocked all the characters. Speaking of characters, there is a good variety of different shots to choose from just from the characters. You can take short and straight, a long slice, even a long draw. Anyway, I rate the general gameplay of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour a nine out of ten.
Amusement: 10 / 10
The last thing I chose to rate was the amusement of this game. Most of the times I've played Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, I had lots of fun. But, once in a great while, you get one of those times where you're just not with it. For example, one time I kept getting "Par" over and over again, and once in awhile a "Birdie", but I kept seeing my rank as one shot behind the leader. I never passed him up. A whole 20 minutes spent trying to get one more birdie than I needed. Other than that inconvenience, I really have fun playing Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
Overall Rating: 10 / 10
Overall, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour deserves at least a nine out of ten, if not that perfect ten out of ten. Looking over everything, I still say that my favorite part about this game is the graphics.
