NBA Street
Review by chillindude829
"This game is one that proves Nintendo's collection is getting alot better."
INTRO: NBA Street. Familiar? If it is, you probably know it from the PS2 version. However, with many things upgraded, it's a little better and more worth your while. If it's not familiar to you, now's the time to make it familiar. A great sports game and one of EA's best so far, basketball was meant to be on this system. With a nice twist, however, this game is the ''Blitz'' version of Basketball.
GAMEPLAY: Difficulty: 9/10
It's pretty tough at first but it's very easy to adjust to. The gameplay is almost perfect difficulty, and since it's adjustable you can bring it up to the level of your game. Also the game course is fun and gets gradually harder at a good pace.
GAMEPLAY: Control: 10/10
If you've been playing the PS2 version, it may be a little hard to adjust to. But ultimately, you will like the way the buttons are close together, especially the turbo buttons, all 3 conveniently located on the top of the controller. Also it's normal basketball controls, pass with A, shoot with B, then there's trick buttons right next to those and the control stick in the normal spot, the moving of players is very easy to control.
GAMEPLAY: Fun: 10/10
One of the most fun sports game on the GameCube. This game doesn't really represent the basics of basketball, and focuses more on just making the game fun for the player. In this way, it makes the game alot more fun and easier to understand than a regular basketball game. The first time you play, you'll already see what I mean.
AUDIO/VIDEO: Graphics: 10/10: This game shows the true power of GameCube's graphics. The pre-game movie will leave you in awe, and then the actual game will leave you in even greater awe. The up-front actual moving graphics aren't the best, but they're great, and the background graphics are amazing, almost as good as the foreground, actual moving graphics.
AUDIO/VIDEO: Sound: 8/10
Nice background music most of the time. But the one thing that will get you annoyed after a while is Joe ''The Show'''s voice every time you run down the court, shoot, run out of turbo, or get close to a gamebreaker. It's okay at first but will eventually get annoying.
REPLAYABILITY: 10/10:
This game won't be boring until you play 20 games in a row. Until then, the City Circuit mode will keep you busy and then show off your skills against your friends. Don't have friends? Not a problem, make the difficulty harder and keep playing, this game is a great way to make time go by.
TO BUY OR TO RENT? Buy.
Yes, buy. This game is one of the best Sports games on GameCube, and one of the best Basketball games... ever. It makes the game of basketball simple and fun, like all games should be. If you haven't played it yet, go buy it. If you don't have a GameCube, go buy it and GameCube and Melee. And if you aren't convinced, rent it first, then buy it.
