James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire
Review by molotov_ckoctail
"Good. . ."
Graphics: 8
The graphics in Agent Under Fire are great, especially in the full-motion-video sequences. Without getting into too much detail, I will just say that they definitely show what the Cube can do.
The only problem I really had with the graphics was in the area of the animation. An example being that when you shoot the enemies, they don't really react as if they've been shot. They flinch/stutter a bit as if they were stung by a bee. Maybe it's the machismo in me, but if I shoot you, you better act like it hurts more than a bee sting, you know?
Sound: 7
The music in this game is great. I like how the Bond theme is used throughout the game (and the melodic remix that can be heard in the elevator). I also enjoyed most of the voice acting. Occasionally though, some sound effects are a bit flat.
Control: 8
For the most part, the controls of the game are on point and responsive. I use controller scheme 3, so my opinion is based from that scheme. It is similar to the controls for the game Halo (X-Box).
The only problem I had was with targeting. Sometimes the auto aim would throw me off, but maybe there is an option to disable it.
Gameplay: 7
Maybe I am used to Golden Eye and Halo. Something about the feeling of weight the characters have and how hard hitting the weapons are on those games. . .because Agent Under Fire seems to be too light. The combat leaves me feeling a bit empty and the multi-player is depressing.
Speaking of multi-player, while playing, I always think to myself that it is no Golden Eye. And maybe that is the problem. After Golden Eye and Halo, nothing else, if it is not on the same level or beyond those, will be fulfilling. Multi-player for this game seems so watered down and the action is stiff. Also, the multi-player levels are bland. What I really enjoy about this game are the driving missions. They are nice.
Replay Value: 8
You are rewarded with extras for completing the game on gold and platinum levels, so trying to get these adds replay value. Also, while I don't care for Agent's multi-player, it can be added replay value for those that do. Get some of your buddies over or add some robot enemies and have at it.
Overall: 7
A good game with nice graphics and music (you can tell that the staff put in work), but after playing Golden Eye and Halo, it seems a little watered down, even if it is made by a different company than the previously mentioned games. Rent it first to see if it is for you. Peace. Molotov.
