2002 FIFA World Cup
Review by The OgeeBoogie man
"Simple, but has its sweet spots {:+)"
Ahh, another EA work of art. from SSX Tricky to Madden 2002, the game is a real improvement from many other soccer games. Since i have a memory card that holds over 1,000 blocks, the game doesn't bother me much there. I bought this game because 1: I had to get one EA game from each EA branch. EA Games (FIFA), EA Sports (Madden NFL 2002), and EA Big (SSX Tricky) Games. 2: I rented it and really enjoyed it. and 3: I'm a soccer/video game freak with a GameCube. On with the review...
Graphics: Simply stunning. The characters are so incredible. They breath, they argue, they smile, a have a variety of emotions. The crowd is constantly moving, and waving, and rasin' the roof with cheers whistels, and booing. The tackling and shooting motions are smooth, and the reselution is pretty good. Still, World Cup posseses excellent graphics and color. 10 outta 10.
Sound: Excellent sound orientation. The witty commentary is really helpful in a game like this. You just gotta love that crowd, though. A layout of sound action on the field triggers the crowd to boo, cheer, whistle, and more. Also for certain teams come certain chants, such as ''BRAZIL! bum, bum, bum, BRAZIL! bum, bum, bum, Or the distant hum, ''Oh, say can you see?'' Still, on the field or off the field, the sound effects really keep the game entertaining. I just dislike the lack of DIFFERENT comments and reamarks.
9 Out Of 10.
Gamplay: Very good, But a litle confusing. The juggeling, bicycle kick-volleys and headers keep the defense on thier toes and tackeling, sprints and player runs are fun to use. also the drag backs and step overs. almost perfect. 9 out of 10.
Lasibility: Somewhat dissapointing, but it doesn't ruin the game. What can you expect? Its a sports game. No real plot. This game is fun for more than one player, too. It coud have used a create-a-player mode, or something. It never really got completely boring, but i still come back to it and duke it out in a freindly. I'd give a six and a half, but i can't. 6 out of 10.
All in all, a very good game, if you like soccer. if not, the least you can do is experience the action and rent it a couple times. Quality, but not perfect. I really can't wait to get my greedy little hands on the next FIFA soccer game. OR Madden, Or SSX Tricky. FIFA World Cup is a little better than i expected and was well worth the buy.
