James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire
Review by hero of time 43
"Clunky controls and only 12 missions make this a slightly below average bond game."
First let's talk about the controls. James is somewhat slow, and it is difficult to memorize the controls. You have to use every button in the game, so sometimes if you want to pull out your gun, you accidentally take out your Q Claw or another Q weapon, and get hammered. There are a few driving levels in some, you are driving your bond car and have many different weapons such as missiles and rockets. In others somebody else is behind the wheel and it's your job to take out anybody that gets in your way. Driving in this game is much easier than walking, since when you are driving, there are only so many different gadgets you can use and most of them will be guns. When you are walking you have your weapons and gadgets mixed up, and that can be a problem. Sometimes you can actually run out of bullets if you are not careful. Shooting at your target is not hard, and for far away shots you can be more precise with your aiming by holding down the L button, you make a target zone appear, making it easier to make sure that you hit your target.
This bond game[unlike the others] is not based off of a movie. In the beginning of the game you must save Zoe, a fellow agent. From there on allies and bad guys die , and there are quite a few plot twists that I found enjoyable.
At times mister ''R'' shows up and will give you a new gadget that you will most likely use only in that level.
How fun is this game you ask? If you can get past the bad controls, then the tricky puzzles, and your great line up of weapons, make a slightly below average game. Multiplayer is fun also, but you may have trouble telling your friends that the controls can be mastered.
Now on to the sound. Not much to say here, nothing that the N64 didn't really do.
Explosions in this game are pretty good. The crashes are too. The animations are good as well. It's not anything you haven't seen before in a gamecube game, though. The people are very detailed,[especially the bond chicks] as is everything you can interact with.
After beating the game, there is no real reason to play it again, except for the cool driving levels. The game clocks in at around 7 hours, and the only time it's really hard, it's probably because of the controls.
