Scooby-Doo! Night of 100 Frights
Review by Elektra King
"A MUST for Scooby Fans!"
In this game, you play as Scooby-Doo, making your way through lots of different areas on the Mystic Manor grounds. I'm a huge Scooby-Doo fan and I have really enjoyed playing this game!
The story: It's the usual creepy mansion full of loose boards and spooks. You'll come across lots of different enemies from the Scooby-Doo cartoons. Scooby and the gang have gone to Mystic Manor to help Daphne’s friend, Holly. Holly’s uncle, the famous inventor Professor Alexander Graham, has mysteriously disappeared, and the grounds have been taken over by monsters. You’ll also have to rescue the other gang members, who have fallen into traps and such.
The gameplay: You’ll encounter familiar villains, such as the Cave Man, the Creeper, the Black Knight, as well as bats, rats, and spiders. There are lots of Scooby Snacks all over that you must collect to open certain doors. When your “courage meter” gets low, you can just chow down on food, which is usually sandwiches, burgers, and cake, found all over the place. Throughout the game, you will find some of the professor’s inventions and learn new things that allow you to progress into the game. Sometimes you must collect 3 or 4 keys to open a door. There are monster tokens that you can collect, too, just to add more fun to the game.
The controls: Simple and easy. You control Scooby with the C-stick, A to jump, B to attack, etc. You can’t control the camera view because it’s fixed, a lot like the view in Luigi’s Mansion. So you don’t have to worry about adjusting the camera angle at all.
Graphics: Sweet! The scenery, the characters, and everything is very nicely done.
Sound/Music: There are lots of actual voice clips from the actors, which adds a lot to the game. The music fits in very well with the atmosphere, changing throughout.
Replay: The game is lots of fun to play the first time, and in my opinion, it is still fun to play several times again as well. Some people may not have any interest in playing it over again, but I really like the game, so I do think it has some replay value to it.
Rent or buy? For die-hard Scooby-Doo lovers, buy it! I think you’ll love it as much as I do. If you’re not sure, or if you just want to try it out, then you should definitely rent or borrow before you buy.
