Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Review by BlackDragonHunt
"Harry Potter - Does he live up to the standards?"
When I first went out to get the ''Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'' game, I decided to rent it from blockbuster first, which is what I always do before I buy a new game that sounds a bit, choppy. The game was good at first, but as the game progresses, it starts bouncing from good to bad, and sometimes back to good.
Story - 8/10
The game has a really good story, but it isn't like you would remember it from the book. It skips so much of the most important events. Especially the ones I was looking forward to. Otherwise, it's got a great storyline.
Game play - 6/10
The game itself is great, but when it comes to the game play, it's either too easy, too hard, or just plain screwed up. Also, I managed to get an A+ on all of the grading periods on my first try. It's a fun game, but it's fairly poorly made. The good parts are how they use Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans as the money in Hogwarts, Fred and George's shop, and the movies that explain things. It's got lots of lag, even on my brand new GameCube, it's constantly changing where it decides I want to go, and it's just messed up overall.
Graphics - 9/10
The graphics are great, but not perfect. There are petty details that would have given this a 10. I would have really enjoyed it if they had the pictures moving, the characters were less choppy, and everything looked more realistic, like other GameCube games.
Sound - 5/10
I really liked the sound, but it was extremely poorly made, and they never once, that's right, they Not once, used the Harry Potter theme song from the movie. If they had used at least some of the music played in the movies, the game would have been much more enjoyable, and the sound grade would have been much higher.
Length - 7/10
The game is very short, but it can be increased greatly with the usage of mini-games, trying to improve grades, trying to get all the 101 wizard cards, and flying around Hogwarts on your Nimbus 2000 for no reason whatsoever.
Overall - 7/10
I liked the game, it was fun, and I'm sure you would like it. The game is great and I suggest you get it if you aren't bothered by a few minor flaws that slow down game play, and sometimes tend to ruin the fun of a game..
