"Godzilla has won, I repeat, Godzilla has won!!!"

Introduction:

Godzilla: Destroy all monsters melee (A.K.A G:DAMM) was a game I was mildly interested in upon it's release on the Gamecube, although I didn't buy it immediately, I have now bought a copy, and I regret not buying it sooner. This game is simplistic, but great fun!!

Here's the lowdown:

Graphics: 8/10

Superb graphics, the monsters in the game are portrayed very well and represent a great feeling of size when onscreen, all the detail on there bodies are very well depicted, fluid action movements, no problems!!

The backgrounds are the best part of G:DAMM for the graphics, the feeling of stomping through a city and knocking down enormous skyscrapers, and watching them falter to the ground with a great cloud of smoke is extremely satisfying.

Storyline: 5/10

Hmmmmm suspect, but thats what you expect from a game based around B-Movies, the storyline is very weak indeed, infact it's practically none existant. If your the type of gamer who is only interested in an involving storyline, this game is definetely not for you!! But otherwise, it's a storyline, but nothing to write home about.

Gameplay: 8/10

Good gameplay on G:DAMM, there are plenty of modes to play (Especially so in multiplayer mode).

-Adventure Mode

1 player mode where you have to beat your way through 8 monsters to unlock another Beast for selection, also cities (Locations) are unlockable in this mode. BEWARE: AI is extremely hardcore, even on easy mode, and I guarantee at least 3 outta 4 of you will be ripping your controller apart, shouting classic lines such as ''NO, NO, NO...please GOD.....aaaaaa..NOOOOOOOOOOOOO'' followed up with a gargantuan amount of explicit words :P

- Versus Mode

1 on 1 with your friend. self explantory really....err,duh!

- Melee Mode

Same as versus, except you can have up to 4 players, and your monsters re-spawn themselves when your life runs out. The victor is the person with the most points racked up when the time runs out. Points are awarded for mashing your other oppenents. Quality!

- Team Battle Mode

2 on 2. A blue team and a red team battle it out against each other. 4 player mode.

- Destruction Mode

This mode is excellent. Points are awarded for trashing buildings. The person who wrecks the most is the victor when the time expires.

** Some of these modes will need to be unlocked using adventure mode**

Lastibility: 7/10

This really depends on how much hair you have on your head. If it's alot then your o.k...heh. No but seriously this game does have a reasonably good lastibility factor. There are 8 monsters to unlock, numerous cities aswell, also the different modes. But you will be ripping your hair out in ''Adventure mode''.

Controls: 7/10

Not to difficult, not to hard. I got to grips with the controls pretty quick. The combos are quite easy aswell once you master them. The special attack used with the ''Z'' button is a bit hard to aim at times, but apart from that, no major flaws.

Characters: 9/10

All the favourite ''Kaiju'' are here, such classic as ''King-Ghidorah'' and ''Godzilla''. Also excellent created models such as ''Destroyah'' & ''Mecha-Godzilla''. And the flying master ''Rodan'', amongst others...A great character selection.

Overall: 8/10

Summing up, this game is good if you fancy a laugh, and are not looking for a game to really get your teeth into. This is plain addictiveness, with good ''Eye Candy'' to boot. The great sense of excitment when you pick your oppenent up and throw him half way across a city, bang, smack right into a skyscraper, as the building collapses ontop of him, is just plain excellent. If your looking for thrills, look no more, if your looking for an involving game, I would not recommend this. However, I throughly enjoyed this game, and I'm sure many multiplayer scraps are lined up for me in the future...
