Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Review by Darklink0
"Ruthless, Resteless, and Violent. Perfect."
After completing Resident Evil 2 and jumping straight into 3, I'd have to say there is a world of difference. I've never played a Resident Evil before the Gamecube came out. Ever since I played the Remake, I've gotten every single one of the Resident Evil titles. This one would have to be my favorite so far.
Gameplay-9/10
I give this a 9 basically because 10 would be saying it is the peak of perfection. As with mostly all Resident Evil games, you'll end up running from a whole lot of zombies. Then, there is one more thing that might stop you: The Nemesis. Nemesis will follow you anywhere except save rooms. There is no escape from him. That is one pretty cool part of this gameplay.
Controls- 9/10
The Gamecube controller was made for Resident Evil games. If you've played the Remake, you won't have any problem getting use to these controls, since they are the same. If your new to the series, you might stumble around a bit though.
Mood- 10/10
The opening cinema scene really sets up the mood for this. You'll see an entire police force completely obliterated by the zombies, showing that this is truly a destructive force. The games music sets the scene pretty well, and the zombie character models are, IMO, the best models out of any Cube-Released RE yet. You'll be sucked into a world of terror, and love it.
Difficulty- 9/10
My big anger about this is that there are only two difficulty levels: Easy and Hard. On easy, they give you unlimited ink ribbons and a WHOLE lot of ammo in the start. That is kind of way to easy. On hard, the zombies are nearly tripled, and you have barely any ammo in the start. So, when you play this game, your either gonna walk through it pretty easily (combat wise) or get owned. The puzzles are still pretty difficult, like most REs.
Graphics- 7/10
Its a port. What more can I say?
Audio- 8/10
I really like the way the games music works. Before you see nemesis come in, you'll hear his theme slowly mix in with the current music playing, until all you can hear is nemesis. You'll be walking around and then nemesis will just burst through a window, and due to the games pretty nice audio, you'll know it. The voice acting hasn't improved much though...
Fear Factor- 10/10
I would suggest to always carry around some strong weapon with you, since Nemesis likes to come in at ANY time. Don't try running from him either. He'll just follow you. His only limits on following you is that he doesn't enter save rooms. So you can go hide in one of those for awhile... But nemesis will be right outside waiting when you come out. This Resident Evil is VERY scary.
Replay- ?/10
I cant really say to much of the replay value, since it just depends on what you would like. If you want to be able to get unlimited ammo of some type just so you can have fun kicking nemesis in the rear, then you'll probably love it. Otherwise, there is only 1 path to play, with 2 difficulties. So there isn't really much replay value if you don't want to collect all the stuff.
Overall- 9/10
I give Resident Evil 3: Nemesis a 9/10 purely because of the graphics and voice acting. Everything, from the unique create-your-own-ammo to the many, at least 10, encounters with nemesis, is perfect. If they remade the graphics to this game, this would be the best game ever.
Rent or Buy?
If your an RE vet, rent it since it is the same game from the PSX. If your a Cube RE, buy it. You won't be disapointed.
Nemesis is coming after YOU.
