Resident Evil 2
Review by gr8name
"Ooooh, not scary!"
Hey Capcom, why must you insult us by trying to force the same old crap on us time and time again? Is it because you wasted all of your beloved money on remaking the first Resident Evil? I would have to believe the answer to that question is a resounding YES! Foolish developers! Do you really think that people are going to buy this game for the price you are asking? Perhaps if you had repackage Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Nemisis together in a bundle and priced it at $10 then maybe a sane person would possibly consider purchasing these heaping piles of bile.
Graphics: 2/10
C'mon people, back in 1998 these graphics were semi decent and even then they really weren't all that much to talk about. Nice backgrounds but pixelated and deformed looking people. Now flash forward to 2003 and you don't even try to give this game even a mild face lift? Shame on you Capcom. You actually took the time to make Resident Evil 1 look better (a whole lot better), why didn't you do the same for Resident Evil 2 or 3? Oh well, either way it's painfully obvious that this game is just a straight up port from the original PlayStation.
Sound: 3/10
I never did think the sound in this game was very good. no matter which version or console it was on. Maybe if enjoy listening to moans or roars then you'll crank up the volume. Otherwise don't even bother. And music is damn near non-existant in this title. And don't get me started on the voice acting, if you've ever played any other Resident Evil title then you know what I'm talking about. Bah...
Game Play: 5/10
Well at least the game play will be the same right? Well yes, only now you have to use the horrible GameCube controller. Which is perfect for some other kinds of games but is just plain wrong for a game with a control scheme like Resident Evil. Capcom didn't even bother to slap in the now expected ''quick turn'' which probably would have take one of their programmers about 3 minutes to add to this game. Oh well, if you are just simply dying to get another fix of Resident Evil then I suggest Resident Evil 0 instead. Let this game rest in peace on the PlayStation.
Final Score: 4/10
It almost pains me to give Resident Evil 2 this score as I so loved the game back in 1998. Now it is obvious that Capcom would rather spend time slapping together cheap old games instead of working on new titles or even new franchises. Too bad for gamers!
