Evolution Worlds
Review by subzero8287
"A game with great innovation, but falls short"
Evolution Worlds has it's good and bad points. It is a really fun RPG at times and sometimes you reach points where you never want to play the game again. At once you'll notice that you go through identical dungeons over and over again, and each of the dungeons is randomized and they all have so many floors, it takes hours to get through. The boss fights are easy until the final fight, which is near impossible unless you get lucky.
Graphics
The graphics of Evolution Worlds are actually really great. The character models look good, and so do the environments in which you cross. The dungeons are structured well, and the camera-views are done nicely. This is one of the few good elements about this game, and there really isn't much more to say.
Sound
The difference between the quality of sound in Evolution Worlds and graphics is huge. The characters in the game speak way too slowly, and anyone without much patience will turn the voice acting off. Even those with patience and tolerance may turn the voice acting off because the voices are really annoying. The music you hear in the towns isn't the greatest. After listening to it for a while, you may just want to mute the television all together. The dungeons literally have just about no music whatsoever. The music and sound in this game falls below mediocre.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Evolution Worlds is a lot like that of most traditional turn-based RPGs. Except worse. After completing the first few dungeons, you'll notice you have thousands of useless items in your inventory, and it takes forever to sell them and even then you don't make much money at all. The gameplay of the battles is very similar to games like Golden Sun and the Final Fantasy games. Though it serves almost no purpose, by pressing B on the controller your character can jump. It plays no role in the game and many wonder why UbiSoft (the company that made the game) put it in there. Overall, the gameplay is about average in Evolution Worlds.
Overall
Overall Evolution Worlds is a mediocre game that only desperate Gamecube RPG lovers should try. There are many annoying aspects to this game that people will easily find, like the repetition of going though 6 identical long dungeons before advancing further into the game. Basically, if you have a good tolerance for games and are looking for a creative title, then Evolution Worlds is for you. If not, it's best to skip it.
