"Two Major Flaws"

Sylvester Stallone has been revived with ROCKY the game. This game is actually quite good for a movie game, I was quite pleased. Although let me tell you now, if you aren't a fan of boxing, or rocky, you're not going to be interested in this game.

Gameplay: The gameplay is where flaw #1 comes in. The game plays through all 5 movies, so of course the first fight is with Spider Rico. After you beat the light weights, you'll get your chance at Apollo. He's quite easy to beat. Then Apollo II from ROCKY II, also quite easy. Clubber Lang I found was easier than Apollo II, what's up with that? Anyway after you beat Clubber you move onto the unknown who cares fighters. This is where I tend to get vexed at the game. It took a lot out of me to beat some guy named Smith, but it was quite easy to beat the heavy weight champion of the world Apollo? Because they wanted to go by the more you play the harder it gets, it ends up making this Smith guy 200x better than Apollo, even in exhibition match! At least they could have toned the fighter down a bit for exhibition, now everyone will want to be Big Yank Ball instead of Apollo. Even though that can really get frustrating, it's still fun to beat up people with Mr. T, even if he'll get owned by boxers that are nobodies. Score- 6/10

Graphics: There are two types of gamers, the gamers that say oh wow, those graphics rocky, and end up buying a game that is nothing but icing, nice graphics but crappy game play. Then there are the gamers who are smart and rent it out if they think it's good, and will even play games that have crappy graphics. In Rocky's case, it's
in the middle. The graphics are nice, and the gameplay is decent. Not much to go off of that. Score- 7/10

Sound: Flaw #2. I'm sorry but I jsut couldn't stand hearing the managers, when they're all the same. I couldn't tell Apollo apart from, the Russian, Drago's manager. They have one of the great Rocky songs in the game, but like most reviews said, no Eye of the tiger. Score- 7/10

Overall this game is just average. If you're a fan of the movies like I am, then this is a must have, considering its mark down to $20 brand new. However if you're just a fan of boxing in general, or don't like either Rocky or boxing, then I suggest you just find a game that suits you better, or at least give Rocky a rent. Don't be fooled by the markdown, this game is perfect for the $20 they ask for it. Now I gotta go train and pound that meat!
