NBA Street Vol. 2
Review by GameCubeGuy49
"This is the most fun I have ever had in a basketball game"
I bought NBA Street: Vol. 2 a few weeks ago because I enjoyed the first, and was hoping for another great basketball game. I got what I wanted and more in Vol. 2. NBA Street Vol. 2. It is just as awesome as the first, with new features such as gamebreaker 2s and bouncing the ball of player’s heads to stun them. If you are worried if this game is too similar to the first NBA Street, Don’t. While the game play and graphics remain intact, the game is different enough that you will want to upgrade right away. Now, onto the review…
Game Play- 10
Just like the original NBA Street, the game play, although not changed much, is truly amazing. Some features include create a player, create a team, a tutorial, and pick-up games, where you can pick any team and face any team. In pick up games you can also play with 1-4 players, which is extremely fun. There are two one- player “story” type modes. The first one is called NBA challenge Mode. In it you use any team you want to go through a series of 6 NBA teams per court, and then you challenge “NBA Legends” of that area. Once you finish the six teams and the legends, you unlock that court, the legends, and you move on to the next court. The next 1 player mode is called Be A Legend. In this mode you go through cities such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles with your create a player to gain experience and to, well, become a legend. In the Be a Legend mode you earn development points for your create e a player, which can be used to raise their stats, or buy new moves and clothes. In NBA challenge mode and in pick up games you get reward points, which you can use to buy courts, development points, throwback jerseys for the create a player, NBA legends, and street legends. A word of advice for beginners: EVERYTHING you can buy with development points can be gained in the game another way, so it is best just to wait and see if you can figure out how to unlock it before you go and spend reward points on it. Now, onto the controls. The controls are extremely tight and feel extremely comfortable once you get used to them. When you are on offense, he A button passes, the B button shoots, and the X and Y buttons do tricks. When you are on defense, the A button switches players, the X button steals the ball, and the Y button makes you block. The best part of the controls is the innovative turbo system. The buttons R, L, and Z are used to turbo. They can each be used by themselves, or with each other to do different tricks, move faster, and take different shots and dunks, and more.
Graphics- 7
The graphics in NBA Street: Vol. 2 are pretty good. All the B-Ball players look overly shiny and the textures for the courts look really good. The graphics are definitely not the best graphics around, but they look good enough and get the job done well.
Sound-7
The sound is pretty good. First, the music. The music isn’t that bad, its mostly rap and fits the game well. Unfortunately, there aren’t very many tracks, so the music gets old fast. The sound effects for the basket ball games are very good. The announcer, which is Bobbito Garcia, works, but has some phrases that make absolutely no sense at all so you will constantly be yelling “What the @#$%???”.
Replay/Length-9
Playing all the single player modes and unlocking everything will probably take you around 10 hours, so the single player game is enough of a reason to get this game. Add on the pickup games that you will most likely want to play with your friends, and you will be playing Street 2 for a long, long, time.
Final Score-9.4 (Note: Not an average, also it says 9.0 as my rating about because gameFAQs only accepts solid 1-10s)
So to buy or rent? This game is without a doubt worth buying, even if you don’t like basketball. So what are you waiting for? Go buy this game NOW
