2002 FIFA World Cup
Review by Master Justin
"Is this for Gamecube or Nintendo64?"
The graphics on this game are horrible. Everything looks so fake. The only plus on the graphics is the celebrations, it actually looks Gamecube worthy, the rest looks like any other soccer game for Nintendo64.
The sound is ok, it plays the same music whenever it plays, and the crowd stuff always sounds the same. It isn't anything spectacular. The players don't even make noise. They could at least yell or talk some junk after they score or something. They just slide around and do half-decent celebrations. They don't even celebrate after they score a goal either. They only celebrate after the entire match is over. How boring. Personally this game would've been a lot cooler if there would've been a soundtrack on it like some Madden games. It really would've made a big difference.
The controls are relatively easy. They don't take long to learn at all. It is pretty much fool-proof. This was another small plus to the game. The controls were very easy.
Replay value is horrible, after you win the World Cup with your favorite team, there is nothing else to do. This game is so boring. It isn't even fun to play with friends.
I will admit playing on World Class toughness is a bit of a challenge, but even that becomes easy. There aren't any unique crossover moves for any players, they all do the same stuff. It seems the rankings for players don't matter either. Almost everybody is just as good as everybody else. The one difference you can notice is speed. That is a good thing, some players can literally BURN everybody else. It only takes about 10 minutes to adjust to the game, and you can be a winner in no time. If you are a real soccer fanatic, then you probably want this game. Although it is probably one of the worst soccer games out for Gamecube, it is pretty decent.
I would suggest renting this. It is fun to win the World Cup, but after that, there is nothing to do. So I wouldn't recommend paying any amount of money more than $10 to acquire this game. Even then, I still wouldn't pay more to buy it than to rent it. It really isn't fun for more than a week. And it only lasts a week if you have some friends to play it with.
