Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut
Review by Fiz
"Open your heart...to bad lip syncing!"
I loved Sonic Adventure 2: Battle so much, I just couldn't pass up Sonic Adventure DX!
Now the only time I ever played the Original Sonic Adventure was a demo for about ten minutes, and I couldn't play it that well, as the demo had a broken controller. So I really can't compare it to the original, so here we go.
Story - 7/10
Typical Sonic Game story. Dr. Robotnik/Eggman is after the Chaos emeralds again, but this time to power up the most chaotic creature ever, ''Chaos''. It's your job as Sonic (and the rest of the team) to stop him at all costs.
Graphics - 7/10
The intro graphics were awesome. The game graphics could have been better, like the background graphics, level graphics, and the graphics of the human characters. I think all SonicTeam did was made the actual character graphics better. What SonicTeam should have fixed is the talking animation. When Sonic's mouth moves, it doesn't match what they are saying. At all. Hell, it doesn't even match the Japanese narration either. I could have put 8 out of 10 if it weren't for the lip syncing.
Gameplay - 8/10
Now, if you only play the ''C Levels'' through, this game shouldn't take you more than half a day to finish. But with all the extra goodies in the game, it will make you want to play more to unlock them. The brand new ''mission'' mode also pumps up the gameplay. So this gets a great gameplay score.
Sound - 7/10
Pretty Good. The music does get a little repetitive after a while, or at least it did for me. And the little noise that is made when you jump really irritated me. But, I'm easily irritated. It just depends on your taste of Video Game music. If I remember correctly, the music didn't sound very well on the original Sonic Adventure. So they might have made the sound a bit clearer. But I'm not really that sure.
Replayability - 7/10
Like all Sonic games, they should be replayed, in my opinion. As I said before, you'll want to replay this to unlock all the secrets in the game.
Overall - 8/10
An overall nice game. Not as Good as Sonic Adventure 2 in my opinion, but good anyways.
Buy or Rent? -
A definite buy if you are die-hard Sonic fan. If you are not concerned about all the hidden extras in the game, go and rent it and see how you like it. It's a nice game for $40.
