"The Blue Blur Continues His Ongoing Battle with Eggman in the Excellent Game"

Whoamei. That's what I'd say if I had to sum this game up in a simple word. However, due to GameFAQs restrictions, I think I'll do otherwise...=D This is my first review, folks, so bear with me.

Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut is what most people would refer to as a mere port of Sonic Adventure to Gamecube. It is, in fact, just that. However, aside from the addition of a few things (missions, for example), this game has not only retained its original greatness--it's become better, in my opinion.

Storyline(s) - 8/10:

This game truly intrigued me. I've never played the Dreamcast version, despite having to watch my cousin play for countless hours. >_<' When I started playing and noticed you not only have six individual, yet intertwining storylines, but you unlock them gradually in another characters story. Each character had different goals to complete. It's quite enjoyable, with the exception of Big the Cat's storyline, which made me want to drink laundry detergent. For example, you have to get through a level and get the Chaos Emerald at the end, for Sonic. Whereas with Amy, you have to avoid the sinister robot ZERO and get to a balloon (o_O''). Overall, the story was incredibly enjoyable to watch and play through.

Gameplay/Controls - 9/10:

The controls for this game were simple to use, in most cases, and incredibly easy to learn. The gameplay of the game was equally enjoyable. Apparently, Sonic Team put a bit more thought into the bosses of this game than it's sequel, Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle). For Sonic, you can do the usual homing attacks and other things. Each character has rather basic controls, which, if you can't figure out, are well explained in the manual...I hope...^_^''

Sound - 10/10:

Holy hell, I'm a geek. I absolutely love the music in this game. It has some remade songs from older Sonic games, such as Twinkle Park's music (previously used in Sonic 3D Blast) and quite a deal of new music...well, new for me and the Gamecube, anyway.

Visuals - 7/10:

Ok, this is one of few minor imperfections to this game. Like most Sonic games, this one suffers from DCPS. Demented Camera-Positioning Syndrome. Most of the time, you're not going to have to worry about this. However, it tends to show up at incredibly inconvenient times. In example, it seemed to happen quite often in the Final Egg level, just so you folks know when to be wary of daft-ified camera motions. Other than that, some of the nifty little visual glitches came along for the trip to the Gamecube. I haven't noticed any of them, personally, but I've heard some of them are nothing short of annoying. Don't let this greatly alter your opinion, though. This game is great. Then again, they still have that damned dubbing problem. If you haven't seen it before, just think of a Godzilla movie, only with Sonic characters, and you've got how well they've got the voices synchronized to the mouth movements. All-in-all, though, despite the errors and issues, the graphics aren't too bad.

Bosses - 9/10:

Though not something most people tend to cover in a separate section, I'm one of the proud, yet strange few that would. Each character had some different bosses, exclusive to them, while quite a few of the bosses were faced against by numerous characters that you use. The different forms of Chaos were quite essential to this game and made it more enjoyable, and, at the same time, a bit more frustrating. Then, of course, what Sonic game would be a true Sonic game without Eggman/Robotnik's rather insane and violent robotic ship-like creations? And this one was incredibly impressive. Egg Viper and Egg Walker were fantastic, superb, and, yet, were still challenging. These guys keep the game in good shape and deserve some recognition.

Overall Pengy-fied Rating - 9/10:

I'm one of the biggest Sonic Fanboys, though I still expected greatness. And it was exactly what I got. In a short, overview of my review, this game had music that I'd listen to during gameplay and otherwise, this game's storylines were quite innovative; for their time and for Nintendo Gamecube, and the controls were simple enough for me to learn. That's pretty simple, folks. In closing, I'd like to say I'm pleased with this game and glad it was brought to Nintendo Gamecube. Now, save up forty or so dollars or however much it may be in your currency, and get this game. It's a Sonic Fanboy's must have, especially if you never had a Dreamcast. Once you get it, enjoy, and I hope this Review has been of some help to you. =D
