Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Review by KwyjiboBART
"RE3 on Gamecube or Playstion?"
Introduction- This games is a direct port from Playstaion, and frankly, it carried over VERY well. It was a great game on Playstation, and still is on Gamecube.
Gameplay- (10/10) I have always and still love the Resident Evil series, and this is a true classic. Some people don't like the controls, but if you've ever played a RE game, don't worry. If not, after about 10-15 measly minutes, you'll get used to them, TRUST me. I'm not demented or anything, but I find it fun to kill zombies, there's just something satisfying about it. The save feature increases difficulty, and harder is better, IMO. And you make live decisions in the game, where you are forced to decide between multiple options, very innovative.
Story- (8/10) This Resident Evil has a bit more story than some of the others in the series, but it's still the S.T.A.R.S. members saving Raccoon City from the zombies, but there is one MAJOR difference. Nemesis. He is this huge zombie-gone-wrong mutation that you will run into SEVERAL times. It makes the game more interesting.
Graphics- (8/10) This game is *not* REmake (Resident Evil 1 on Gamecube) in graphics, but it's a Playstation port, what did you expect?? But, the graphics are not terrible! The CGI's look as good as ever, and the graphics seem a little old-school 3-d at times, but unlike RE2, no blocky limbs!!
Sound- (9/10) Most of the sound is gunfire and explosions in this game, and of course the zombies, but believe me, it all sounds great! The weapons all sound very realistic, the zombies moans are awesome, it's all good! No real problems here, just a bit repetitive at times, which is hard to notice.
Play Time/Replayability - (10/10) This, again, depends on whether this is your first Resident Evil or not. If it is your first, it will take you longer to complete, because you will be unfamiliar with the style and puzzles. If this isn't your first RE, it will not take quite as long. But either way, this game should take you at least a few weeks to complete overall. And the replay is boosted by which decisions you choose, because you can always go back and try something else!
Final Recommendation - I don't want to make someone go out and waste their money on a game they won't like, so unless you're SURE you want this, I'd rent it first, just to see if you'll like the RE series, or just like RE3. But, you can find this game new from $40-$25 new!! You'll most commonly find it for $40, but if you look in Target or Wal-Mart, you can often find it much lower.
