Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2
Review by iLoveMyGameCube
"“10 World Vert Titles, 1 Epic Road Trip.”"
I never played the original Matt Hoffman, so I did not know what to expect. But being made by Activision, (the makes of the Tony Hawk games.) I knew I was not going to be disappointed.
This is the best BMX game out there, and one of the best Extreme Sports games around.
With 8 levels, 10 pro Riders and the new ‘Trick Tweaking’ system you will be hooked for hours.
Gameplay 8/10
In each level, there are goals, 12 in all. The goals are split up into 3 different classes.
They are Amateur, Semipro, and Pro. Once each class is completed you get points. Once you have enough points, you can unlock different levels.
Multiplayer is fun, and you will be playing for hours. With new options, and old classics like Horse you will be hooked.
The only downside to the gameplay is the level editor. It is extremely frustrating, and makes it hard to sit through the whole level building process. I have yet to create a decent level to ride in.
Sound 8/10
Well, it is a matter of choice. Some people might not like the style of music used in the game. It is mostly rap, and some rock. You will get right into the game with the music in this game.
The sound effects are brilliant. Every bang the bike makes against the ground is represented in perfect stile.
Graphics 7/10
The graphics are not up the high standard that you have come to expect from Activision, but they get the job done.
There is not as much detail put into some of the level like in THPS4, but they are by no means bad. I have never experienced any slow down or lag during gameplay.
The rider animations are extremely good. All of the tricks look great when they are pulled off. The rider even pedals to gain speed!
Replay Value 10/10
The game has unlimited replay value. To unlock all of the movies, characters, bikes, costumes and levels will take you hours of play.
Plus the option of multi player, I doubt that you will be getting board of this game any time soon.
Overall 8/10 (Not an average)
The main are that could have been improved is the graphics. If more detail had been put into some of the levels, I think that I would have given it a 9 or 10.
This game is for the die hard sports fanatics. Any one who enjoyed Tony Hawks, Kelly Slater or Shaun Palmers Snowboarder will fall in love with this game.
