Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis

Gameplay 10
The gameplay of Aquaman brings back pleasant memories of 16 bit action games, and now that feeling has been brought back to the 128 bit console world. There are many combos to pull of in this game, and many of the better ones are very hard to pull off at first, but once you figure them out, the game just gets so much bigger. The gameplay excels in that Aquaman moves and swims like he is supposed to. There are also submarine levels in this game which can be quite fun to play as well. The greatest aspect of this game is that you have the chance to play as not only Aquaman, but the golden age Aquaman, Tempest, and the villain Black Manta. The gameplay combines third person action with brawling. As Aquaman you swim through the vast cities of Altantis carrying out your objectives. Once you face a bad guy, a new mode of gameply arises, where it becomes a straight up fighter. This is a very cool and original way to tackle such gameplay, and it fits a superhero title like Aquaman perfectly. This is the main reason why the game gets such a high score. Because of this innovative way of executing gameplay. I hope other action games in the future can do such things.
Graphics 9
The character models of Aquaman, classic Aquaman, Tempest, and Black Manta are crisp and fluid. They all move very well. Swimming through the vast large levels of Atlantis is also a thrill. However the cities are somewhat empty at times and the backgrounds are bland. Not the best graphics, but good enough.
Sound 9
The sound in this game is good to get the adrenaline pumping when the time comes for the King of Atlantis to pummel those attempting to overthrow his kingdom. Unfortunately at times the sound can get repetitive.
Controls 10
Like I said earlier the characters all move well, and the response to buttons and the controls for swimming suit the game perfectly.
Overall 10
This game is very fun to play if you are a fan of Aquaman. Its great to play as both the old and new aquaman as well as the other characters. The gameplay is also executed quite well, and the character models look excellent. This game is a must have for any aquaman fan, or any superhero game fan. Especially since it came out for a mere $20 price tag. Those who are not fans of aquaman should look elsewhere.
