Mega Man Network Transmission
Review by jv2k
"A good game thats not as hard as every one says"
I’ve noticed this game is very under rated and seems to be bashed by many people even the game mags and sites, but why? This is a good game that deserves credit yet people bash it because its ''too hard'' but IF YOU DO NOT LIKE MEGAMAN GAMES DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GET THIS GAME don’t bother reading the review because this game most likely will not change your opinion on megaman games. Megaman NT seems to be a trip to the past some times in the fact hat it seems so similar to the classic megaman games yet at other times it seems so different. Think megaman 7 with more strategy and you’ll see what megaman NT is.
Story:10
A month after Megaman and Lan stop the WWW the world seemed at peace until the Zero Virus is spreading through out the net causing massive damage. The virus doesn’t attack electronics instead it attacks the Net NAVIS [if you haven’t figured out yet this is a battle network title] and its up to stop it. Yea the story isn’t great but considering how similar this game is to the original series the story is more than enough. megaman sidescrollers are not played for stories but for there game play so this doesn’t matter too much. What ever the story lacks the game makes up in gameplay.
Graphics/sounds:9
This is just the beginning of the nostalgia this seems like an original megaman title mixed with a battle network one everything from the way megaman walks, shoots, jumps, climbs , even the noise he makes when he lands on his feet is the same as the original megaman series. The music is decent its not as memorable as megaman 2 but its not too bad. But the graphics aren’t as good as these other people on the review page say they are, granted the graphics aren’t bad they just aren’t great. My biggest problem with graphics is megaman is too small I mean you cant even see his eyes and also if you played any of the battle network games on gameboy advance you’d see that the swords have a laser look to them and in this game they don’t unless they are used. Other than that the graphics are good. The short cut scenes before each boss are also well done and animated.
Gameplay:10
This is were the game shines and it’s the number one reason to get it if you’re a megaman fan. If you crossed an classic megaman game with a battle network game you get a 2d megaman platformer with more strategy then you usually get. Basically when you start off you pick battle chips and to use them you press Y, to switch you press L or R and to pause the game to switch chips you press X. Chips are nothing new if you played the battle network titles they are just used different ways.
ex. Dash chip can be used to help cross gaps, and cold punch can break some walls.
It seems complicated at first and maybe even a little awkward but it isn’t these controls fit the game perfectly. Along with this new system there is the classic abilities we’ve come to know and love slide, jump, Mega buster shot, and charged shot. Unlike most of the megaman sidescrollers you don’t start off with the ability to charge shot in fact you star out fairly weak but as you buy and find power ups you become more powerful.
Difficulty:3
I know what your thinking “3 that’s easy” and in fact this game is to a megaman gamer but to any one else especially if this is your first megaman game I gave this difficulty based on other megaman games I have played and trust me if you like challenges old school megaman games are the way to go. I do not find this game extremely easy but compared to the others this is Childs play. If your looking for the toughest megaman game get Megaman and Bass for the GBA or even tougher try to find megaman 1 for the NES or get the new Megaman special addition disk coming out for Gamecube and PS2 which will have mostly all the classic megaman games.
Conclusion-
So if you want a challenge or are a hardcore megaman fan get this game, but if you hate or even dislike the sidescrolling megaman games do not get this game ,if you like megaman games but find them too hard this one is a bit easier but you still might not be able to beat it. So this game deserves a rent first just so you can see if you like it or if you hate it. This seems to be the kind of game you either love or hate.
