Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO

Review by jekirby

"A great arcade game goes console"

Capcoms a great games, with many different fighters to choose from each side. You can also play on XBOX Live if you have an XBOX. But Gamecue still has fun to offer from this.

Graphics: 8/10
Great Graphics, they make you feel at an arcade, but overally, it think it just is like a little touchup to old graphics, not that it's bad, but they could have tried something new so that this stood out more from the other arcade style fighting games. And it is 2D just incase you didn't know.

Sound: 9/10
Really good sound, the characters sound more believable in their yells than a lot of other games and the background music is nice, and all the attacks sound great, so I'm happy here. Could have done more with some of the combo sounds though, they seemed to be really similar.

Gameplay: 8/10
Overall it is a fun game, and many people will like it, but the multiplayer is down a little for Gamecube because no online, but playing with friends is fun, but at times fighting games can cause anger such as when you are playing against a button masher, so you'll have to adjust to other peoples style, if they button mash you may not be able to pull off every fancy move, and if they don't then you can do as you please. Remember it's also fun to play against a computer controlled character also.

Storyline: 6/10
I gave a little boost here since it is a fighting game, but there isn't much story, just fighting characters chosen at random. But I have seen fighting games with much more of a story, like Dead or Alive.

Replay: 7/10
It's a great game to play every once in a while, but you probably aren't going to play it every week, or even every other week, but its a good fighting game, and its also fun to go back to one every once in a while, especially one like this where you mave a large character choice, and its 2D, unlike all the new 3D ones.

Controls: 5/10
Well, there are two control stiles, one that I give a 10 (Arcade) and one that I give a 0 (Gamecube). Arcade uses the different buttons where as gamecube uses the C-Stick to attack, makeing the huge combos and deadly attacks at pressing one direction of the stick, rather than using buttons to pull them off which requires more skill, and is less prone to kill you when you are against a button masher. With these great moves so easy to pull off, people can do all kinds of unpleasant things.

Rent or Buy: Rent
I'd rent it, but if you like fighting games and play them a lot it's a good buy. But because of the fact that you have to spend 30 bucks to buy it (new), and considering there are many other games out there to try and master, and considering the fact that maybe you have a life outside of videogames, such as school, work, family and what not, it's not meant to be purchaced by everyone, but it is a very fun game, and worthy of 5 dollars to rent, and the week or so to play it, but other games are great and more worthy of your money, so enjoy.

Overall: 8/10
It's a fun game to play every once in a while, but I'd recomend buying something else. If you have 30 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, go ahead and buy it, but 30 dollars could get you a lot of other things, such as a controller, or memory card, or even go to the movies to watch a cool movie. Great game, but there are others out there, or you could try Marvel vs. Capcom (XBOX).
