Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Review by Meganium7
"Decent, but nothing special."
Intro
I played the first three Spyro games on the Playstation. And I loved them very much. Those were great games. Sadly, this one isn't as great as the others.
Story
So, Spyro is at a party. All the baby dragons are going to receive their dragonfly helpers this day. Suddenly, Ripto, the bad guy from Spyro 2 pops in. He looks much different than he did in Spyro 2, except the fact that he's still red and has his horn. He decides to get rid of all the dragonflies. But of course, his spell backfires, and the dragonflies are scattered around the levels and the home world.
Story: 6/10
Graphics
The Graphics here are nice. Very smooth character models. Nice effects with lighting and the other breaths Spyro uses. The only problem is that there is a lot of slowdown in the game. And it sometimes happens in the worst of places.
Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay
Very good platforming. Although it is sometimes made difficult with the slowdown. Spyro now has three new breaths. Bubble, lightning, and ice to go with his fire breath. Bubble breath is used to capture the dragonflies, which is the main objective of the game. There are quite a few levels, some better than others. Most are fun, but one or two are just plain annoying. You can also collect those gems that have been around in every Spyro game ever. I find the gem finding very fun.
Gameplay: 7/10
Control
The control will seem familiar if you played the Playstation Spyro games. A is jump. B to charge. Y makes you glide when pressed during a jump, and X blows whatever breath you have selected. You use R to select a breath to use. The controls have always been a bit clunky though, even on the old games.
Control: 7/10
Sound
Very good. The music sounds like classic Spyro tunes. And the voices are good too. But the enemy noises are sometimes a tad annoying.
Sound: 8/10
Replay Value
Ouch. This might be okay for you newer Spyro fans, and will take a little while to get everything. But the people who have been playing Spyro ever since the first game will be finished pretty quickly. And once you get everything, you feel no urge to play again.
Replay: 2/10
Rent? Buy?
Newer fans might want to buy. But if you've played a Spyro game before, I'd only suggest a rent. This game is okay, but nothing special.
Overall score: 6.5 (rounded down to 6 due to the suggestion of a rent)
