The Simpsons: Hit & Run
Review by rising dragon
"Save Springfield! By car. By foot. By the seat of your pants."
This game is Grand theft Auto without the guns, the sex, the drugs, the gory violence, and the hos. So you ask, what good about this game then? The answer is simply this,....... The Simpsons are in it.
Graphics-8/10 The graphics are pretty bulgy at times, but you won't even notice it. The graphics give a sort of a cartoon feeling to the game. The cut-scenes are terrific though. The graphics are so well done that you can recognize the Simpsons cast members. The Krusty Burger to the DMV looks like in the series. The buildings look so well done. The cars look fantastic like in the series. The worst part of the graphics is the character models. Even though the character models are not that good, the game gives you a feeling that you are really in the T.V show itself.
Story-9/10 The story is written by the Simpsons writers like Matt Groening. I really like the story because it is original. The story is about these wasps that are spying on the people of Springfield. It is up to the Simpsons to save the day. With each character, you get a different story scenario. If you are a Simpson’s fan and like the Simpsons, you will fully appreciate the story.
Sound-10/10 Sound is the best aspect of the whole game. The music is straight from the series. (Well most of them) The dialogue is funny as hell. I almost broke my funny bone when I heard some of the dialogue. The dialogue brings you back to the old episodes of the Simpsons. Like ''I am evil Homer'' Those were the days. You remember those funny moments on T.V, now in this game. The sound does get repetitive some times, but when you do your missions, you just don't focus on the sound anymore. There are also gags, which are from the old series, which brings you, back old fond memories.
Gameplay-8/10 This game is basically like grand theft auto, Simpsons style. You can go out of your car and walk or go in your car and drive like a maniac. You your car is destroyed you can drive the inner casing of it. It is pretty comical. The missions are pretty well-done, but it can get really frustrating at some times, especially when you're using a car that is slow and has bad handling. If you hit a lot of people and create chaos, you will trigger hit and run. Hit and run is when the cops comes after you and charge you a total of 50 coins.
Controls-10/10
Easy to use and easy to learn. Using the C-stick for the camera is easier than ever. The controls are perfect.
Replay- 10/10
The replay is tremendous. You can collect cards and cars of all types. The cards have some of the Simpsons stuff from the episodes like the homemade football from homer at the bat episode. There are cool cars like the Martins' honor-roller to the family's sedan. The costumes are terrific. There is Homer's donut head to Marge’s police officer outfit. If you collect all of the cards in one level you will unlock a mini game. If you unlock all of them in the game you will unlock something nice.
Rent or buy? If you are a Grand Theft Auto fan and a Simpsons fan, buy! If you are just a Grand Theft Auto fan, Rent.
IN conclusion this is the best Simpson game ever made up to date. You have to love the series in order to fully appreciate a lot. Well, so long, and game on. ...(Singing Simpsons theme) do-do-do-do-do-do-do
