Rocky
Review by Link San
"This is not a good game."
Graphics:
This is certainly not one of Nintendo’s best looking games, the characters are to small and I would have expected that you’d recognize the fighters from the movie. Sorry to say but when I have to give a grade for the graphics I have no other choice than to give it a big fat F. But when the fighters get bashed up you can clearly see that the faces are bloody.
1/10
Gameplay:
The gameplay isn’t something to brag about, at first the game is acceptable, until you progress in the game, and after a few fights it’s impossible to beat the computer (on the hardest level of course). And when you’re getting some punches, you can’t escape from your opponent or counter or do anything. And then there’s the training to improve your skills, I must admit that I enjoyed the training sessions, come to think about it, I think the training is more fun than the fighting itself!
4/10 and 6/10 for the training.
Sound:
I did like the sound of the game, the voices sounded good enough for me, and I like the way the fighters taunt each other by letting down they’re guard and saying something from the movies, but other than that, the sound isn’t spectacular either. What I did like was the way the fighters come on to the ring, there is the real tune that comes from the movie for each fighter.
6/10
Life span:
I would say the life span on this game lies somewhere between the 10 and 30 minutes unless you’re a real box fanatic. And when you are a real box fanatic the life span of this game is about an hour and a half, seriously, I completed the story mode within an hour.
Buy, rent or let it go by:
Just let it go by, I bought this game because it was cheap and so that I could add another game to my collection.
WARNING, some slight spoilers below.
Story mode:
The story mode is good, if you saw the movies than you’ll certainly recognize a whole lot of things in this game, as you begin as a nobody you are challenged by the current champion Apollo Creed, and as fate would have it, you win, who would have guessed right. After you’ve completed a chapter you get a small ending before moving on to the next. It gets harder and harder for Rocky and you will fight the strongest opponents in the world, but you might already know that from the movies (if you saw them of course). Like I said, I liked the story mode.
