DreamMix TV: World Fighters
Review by Jono2004
"Cool Fighter that has its ups and downs"
Intro: Dream Mix TV: World Fighters(DMTV) is a party-type fighting game very similar to super smash brothers melee. Its different from Smash Brothers in that three different companies stuck there characters as fighters in it. American gamers will be pleased to see playable characters such as Bomberman, Snake(Metal Gear Solid), Master Higgins(Adventure Island), and Optimus Prime(Transformers). Since this is a japanese game it will be more please to japanese gamers, it has a lot of japanese characters in it.
Graphics: The Graphics in DMTV are not the best but arent that bad. Some of the levels look like they were made in a Paint Program. The character models are nice though.
Score: 7
Sound: Music and sound effects are average in this game. I like some of the tunes too, like bombermans.
Score: 8
Control: Smash Brothers gamers may have a little bit of adjusting to do in this game as some things are different. B is now physical attacks, A is jump, Y is throw, X is for special attacks, and L and R block. It doesnt take to long to get used to though. Overall the controls are very easy and simple.
Score: 9
Gameplay: First of all, let me explain how the fighting works. All the characters are on the same health bar. At the beginning of the fight hearts fly everywhere and you want to try to grab as many as possible. When you grab hearts you stay higher on the bar, when you get hit you fall lower on it. You die when you get to low. DMTV has a main story mode which has 7 levels, its kinda short. Next there is the classic multiplayer mode just like Smash brothers had. THere is also a Caravan mode, which is kinda like little minigame type things that you can beat. There are not a whole lot of modes in the game which is a little dissapointing. There are about 17 characters and levels which is nice. Each character has a decent amount of moves, except a few which don't have many. Sometime the characters may not seem like they have a lot of attacks, but they do. One last extra mode in the game is the library, you can unlock info about the different characters when you beat the game with the characters. Also, one cool feature in this is that when you die in multiplayer you become a little tiny guy and can still fight. Overall the gameplay is not very diverse in this but is still very fun.
Score: 8
Lasting Appeal: As long as you play multiplayer this game should keep you playing for quite awhile. Beating the story mode with all the characters can keep you playing too.
Score: 8
Overall: I would give this game between a 8 and a 9. The game is very fun but doesnt have the diverse amount of gameplay that smash brothers melee had.
