"Ocarina of Time and the original Zelda for the Nes are the only reasons to acquire this collection, but they sure are two NEAT reasons."

Zelda, Zelda, Zelda, probably the most overrated (together with Metal Gear) video game series of all time, why is it overrated?, I really don’t know, because this is not just a fashion like Harry Potter or Pokemon, people REALLY loves this series with all their heart for an unknown reason. For me all the Zelda games are just fun, because they don’t have an interesting plot and they are all basically the same, yet it is true that there is something magical and hard to explain about exploring those dungeons.

As I said before all the Zelda games are always the same, and sorry but no one can say they aren’t, they have the same items, the same story, the same characters, the same final enemy, the same weapons, there are heart pieces, bombs, fairies, we have the Tri Force… Ok, they are some new items and characters in every new chapter, but just a few, in essence they are the same, the story is just an excuse to go to dungeons to acquire abilities to go to another dungeon.

Something VERY important here is that the Zelda series “it is NOT an rpg nor an action/rpg”, yes you can talk with people and buy things, but that doesn’t make this one an rpg, those who know nothing about rpgs think that this game is one of them.

The Legend of Zelda:

Ah!, this game is amazing. The main objective was the oldest in history, to save princess Zelda from the evil (pig¿?) Gannon. However, the gameplay was the best thing about this game, it introduced TONS of new features I don’t want to talk about but that were revolutionary in its time. The graphics were and are very good as well as the music, specially that Zelda Theme, which gets very repetitive during the game but it is the same because it is GREAT. A classic not to be missed certainly.

The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link.

The Adventure if Link is not your typical Zelda game, it is aside scrolling action game mixed with some Zelda elements, like the possibility too speak with people buy things, etc.
This game is weird and tremendously hard, I don’t like it very much because it reminds me a lot to that insult that is Ys III (an insult for the few Ys fans out of Japan that is), but it’s a good different game.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

This is by far the best Zelda game ever. It is the most beautiful, interesting, and well made of the series. This game is also one of the few games that turned into 3D successfully.

The graphics are excellent, spectacular, and very beautiful. The few pre-rendered backgrounds are very blurry, but they look very nice (too bad there are just a few of them). Ocarina of Time’s soundtrack is also the best ever in a Zelda game (even if that is not saying much because the series never had one worth mentioning), some tunes are among my all time favourite.

The gameplay is simply perfect, it is a pleasure to see Link crawling, riding his horse, lifting things… The battles are wonderful, that aiming system works perfectly, and the camera is amazingly easy to use and never, NEVER gets annoying, this Zelda (ok, and that crap Majora’s Mask too) have the best camera system ever in a 3D video game. The only little problem is that the Game Cube controller is not as easy to handle as the one for the N64, using the C buttons and Z is a bit hard this time, but will get used, somehow.

The plot is the same as always, saving Zelda and beating Gannon. There are a couple of nice plot twists, but the plot is nothing worth mentioning, the important thing in this game is the wonderful world Nintendo programmed for all of us, exploring dungeons and solving their puzzles is a pleasure like never before.

While tremendously overrated, because yes, it is probably one of the best games of all time, but it is not the best (not even close), Ocarina of Time is a very spectacular, highly original, and enjoyable game, a game that MUST be played certainly.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.

This is the worst Zelda game ever, one the worst N64 games, and one of the most vile and disgusting craps of all time.
The main reason why this games suck so much is that clock down the screen. You have only three days too save the world or the moon will destroy the world or some crap like that, and you will have to start the game again. This Zelda is a “Gaiden” (which means side story in Japanese), because the typical plot we find in every Zelda is not here.

Having to beat dungeons within three days, and having to obtain all the items again is exasperating, going back to the bank to gather your rupees one time and another is dead boring, collecting all that stupid masks is dead boring too, shopping only during the certain times of the day is horribly annoying, everything in this game is horribly tedious.

The graphic quality is same from Ocarina of Time, and for the music, it is the same from the last game too, only that all the cool themes have been taken out and the few two or three new music tracks are very bland.

I just can’t stand this game, it’s terrible, annoying and most of all boring, unbelievable B-O-R-I-N-G, and YES, this game sucks only, and ONLY because of that clock down there. Yuck.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (demo).

There is only a demo of this game, but I also have the complete version, and well, it is a good game, very good, but it is not near as interesting the Ocarina of Time, it’s fun and all but lacks that fantastic atmosphere Ocarina of Time, A Link to The Past and the Game Boy versions had.

To sum up:
The Legend of Zelda 10/10
The Legend of Zelda: Adventure of Link 6/10
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 10/10
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3/10

Bottom Line:

The only reason to acquire this collection (because you can’t buy it, at least legally), is if you have missed Ocarina of Time or the first Zelda. They should have added A Link to The Past, Link’s Awakening and Oracle of Seasons/Ages instead of Majora’s Mask, those truly are excellent games and that way this collection would have been much better.
