Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut
Review by Chaosky 900
"Sonic Adventure returns!"
Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut is a remake of Sonic Adventure on the GCN. This is basically a port of the original Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast, like Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was. Sonic Adventure DX (from now on Sonic DX) is a pretty good game, with few bad points. Read the review (argggh! First review!) and see the good and bad points of this game. Don't flame me here, this is my first review, so here we go!
Gameplay 8/10
The gameplay for this game is good, now more fun types, the adventure field, and...well...almost all of them are fun. The 2 points are sadly...lost because of Big's Fishing (seen his A Emblems?). The shooting in this game is more fast paced than Tails' and Eggman's in SA2B, Sonic's stages are fast, fun and cool, the same goes for Tails' stages as well. Knuckles' stages are OK, they are easier causing less frustration, Amy's I'd have to say is pretty slow, but Big's fishing is the wrost. Buy the game to see how frustrating his annoying levels/goals in the game! Also, Sonic Team added a Map mode to help you in the jungle...finally. The cut scenes are eventful and ravel in with the game itself. So I'd give it 8/10 (Big lowered it, blame him, not me!)
Controls 9.5/10
The controls in this game are so easy to figure out that I didnt even have to read the insctruction manual. The controls are simple. A is to jump, B is to perform an Action, as well as the X Button, Control Stick to move, C stick to move camera, R and L to trigger the camera...speaking of camera, they added a new Camera Mode, thus making the camera better than in SA2B. The score fell (only a little bit!) because the controls in Chao Garden are HORRIBLE! B is to SPIN DASH in the GARDEN thus HURTING Chao! So use X and Y to perform. I wish they made the controls better so B is to perform the actions in Chao Garden (like they did in SA2B). Still, the controls are easy to master and to remember.
Music/Sound 9/10
The music in this game suits the levels very well.
Speed Highway (Sonic) is fast paced, and so is the music, Twinkle Park (Amy) Castle suits the slow paced music, and Big's fishing in Emerald Coast suits the beach area. Every 'act' you clear has different music, so this makes more music in the game. The sound effects are annoying most of the times like the jumping sound, the screeching sound. w
When you're in a long level, and the sounds irratate you, than simply just turn off the volume. The Voice Acting in my opinion is slightly wrose in this game than in SA2B.
Story 10/10
The story is very deep and it unravels when you finish each character's story. The story revolves around Chaos, Eggman's new weapon. Eggman feeds Chaos more and more emeralds while Chaos gets more and more stronger. It's up to Sonic & the gang to stop Chaos from destroying the entire world. As you progress through the game, it shows the truth of Chaos, what happened and much more. The story in this game is truly deep, deeper than any Sonic game before. Well, that's what I've hear anyway :P.
Graphics 9/10
The Graphics in this game are improved. The characters looks nice and polished, the backgrounds show more detail, but the machines in this game look...fake (Eggman's Egg Hornet), and Perfect Chaos in this game looks more brighter, losing the realisticness of it. Chaos looks cool, with the see through brain, the Chaos Emeralds, the robot parts, the GC movies look realistic, The Ruin's textures are bright and beautiful. The fingers are now seperated, and most of the characters are kind of in a SA2B style.
Replay Value 9.5/10
There are plenty to do after you beat the main story (the main story takes about 10-14 Hours minimum to beat). SonicTeam added a new feature once getting all Emblems (Not telling :D), a Mission Mode and a better Chao system. Chao in this game can give you more than 100 hours of replay, trying to raise the best Chao ever. In my opinion, the ChaoGardens in SA2B are better, but SonicTeam enhanced the Chao so there can be Hero and Dark Chao included. Lots of Replay indeed.
Conclusion
The game is good, very good, Big is the only thing that lowered the score (as well as Chao Garden Controls, SE...). So, lets hope that in Sonic Hereos that Big dosn't have to FISH again. I hope this guide proved useful to you.

To buy, or not to buy...
Buy this game. It isn't expensive, the game is fun, Chao are cooler, graphics are awesome. But if you don't like Sonic, then at least Rent this game and then buy it. Or get it for PC once it comes out for PC. If you dont buy it, you'll regret it!
