Beyond Good & Evil
Review by dman53
"Almost everything you can want in a game and more!!!"
When I got this game for Christmas, I really didn't know what to expect. However, after playing it for 2 days and seeing what it was like, I would recommend it to everyone.
Gameplay / Story (8/10)
The gameplay and story in this game are very addicting and will keep you coming back for days. You are a young girl named Jade who must try and save the world from a evil group of alien-like creatures called the DOMz and their secret allies whom I will not mention on this review. You do this by collecting pearls to buy needed vehicle accessories, photographing over 50 animals to make money, and by taking pictures to help prove the DOMz wretchedness to the population. You fight with a bamboo-like stick and can buy upgrades for your attacks and find items throughout the game to increase the capabilities of you and your partners. The game is full of twists and turns and MUCH covert sneaking around. You must be patient and careful when sneaking around the slaughterhouse, one of the 4 major levels in this game. The game is great because it is a challenge to get every pearl and to photograph every animal in the game. In conclusion, I found the gameplay to be exciting and very puzzle-like, and it kept me coming back for more.
Graphics (9/10)
I found the graphics in this game to be amazing. Everything is very clear and focused well. The environment all around you is beautifully made and life-like. The misty levels are very life-like, and although they are some what cartoon like, they are extremely realistic and make the game very enjoyable. Make sure to try zooming in with your camera and you'll see how clear and realistic the graphics can be.
Audio/Sound (7/10)
This games sound is very clear and it features a very well made line of voices and music. Each level has nicely done sound effects and keeps you interested in the game. The music is enjoyable and always seems to play at the right time and stop when you need some peace and quiet. But in general, the audio fit this game very well and just helped to add even more to the awesome gameplay.
Lasting Effect (5/10)
Despite the amazingly addicting gameplay and graphics/sound, this game lacks in length. Depending on your preference of speed in which to play each level, the game can be completed in a few days to 2-3 weeks. Even getting 100% completion does not take dramatically long and can be done quickly with Walkthroughs or a guide.
Overall (9/10---90%)
This game has everything a good game should have. Great story and gameplay, fit music and sounds, and enough to keep you playing until Jade achieves victory. If you are into games that last months, then this is not the game for you, however, I highly suggest renting it just so you can experience how fun this game is despite it's short length. However, if you want to play a fun and addicting game and do not care about the length, this game is definitely a buy for you. Now get out there and defeat the DOMZ!!!
